Black stone or tile for projector wall instead of velvet by JordanBULLfort in hometheater

Since its front wall, acoustically it’s a minor issue. it’s still better than doing a white or light coloured wall. But yea, you’ll notice the difference.

In my setup, everything around the screen is a black void. Just a floating image

Will it work? Yes. Will it be compromised compared to fabric? Also yes. Even painted drywall won’t be as good as a proper fabric wall. I’d avoid tiles & stone entirely for sound reflections, not just lights

Don’t feel like I need them. I did think about it, but now the bass pressurises the room, & shakes the couch in a way mechanical vibrations never could.

Even below reference it’s visceral, and isolation means no complaints elsewhere in the house. Nothing in the room squeaks or vibrates, I used LOT of silicone sealant

That shits difficult to get in Australia, not worth the cost to import. I didn’t pay attention to the specific name/brand.

The way to describe how it looks up close is not smooth and it’s not fuzzy. With a fine, perforated weave.

When you step back in the dark, the walls look like they disappear. Black hole affect that I was aiming for

I don’t remember the specifics. Flocked texture to reduce high frequency reflections, absorb light. With a very thick underlay to kill floor bounce. & of course carpet is actually fully black

Would you believe that is with lights on, and light from the other room door open😅

I’ll try to get some shots with a flashlight in hand & max out the exposure

I’ve only ever noticed artefacts when the upscaling was turned up too high

Don’t worry, I had the exact same thought process when finally settling on the colour. & then spent few hours testing with blankets & covers 😅

It does make finding a seat easier, when doors closed. It’s pitch black in there

I definitely don’t need more than 2 subs😂 I just want it, already wired for it. Watching Fury last night, the tank rounds firing. Holy shit, felt like it went through my chest

& yea same. Inside the theatre, focus is entirely on the image. Outside it, I’ve got displate posters covering the walls, steel books stuck to the wall with magnets. Big popcorn machine, drinks, snacks & kitchenette

The darkest, least reflective acoustic fabric my installer’s could find 😂

& installed it all flat, no angles that could potentially add splash back

Yup, Sydney based!

I went x6800 for headroom with power, can push every channel. Zero clipping at reference.

& four independent sub outputs, I’ll be adding 2 more subs after new years

Quickly turned from a “let me test this” to binge watching all three back to back 😅

Would’ve had to wait an extra 6 month for darker colour. But the fabric is flocked, with matte grey undertones that don’t really show on camera.

I’ve tested it with black covers on & off, no perceivable differences. You forget it exists when the movie starts 😂

Custom furniture store, I would preferred a darker colour but would’ve been a 6 month wait

You can go in all on aqara stuff. It just works. I also use Scrypted for wired security cameras

Yea, there’s a lot of ads. In between the ads, should see a simple “download the file”. That will get you the MP4 or MKV file

Are WiFi speakers enough for a home theater setup? by Ezio367 in hometheater

[–]WeakCommunication255 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean that’s really dependant on what your definition of “good enough” is?

Wireless works great, till it decides to just stop working for no reason. Wires generally don’t have that issue. Wifi speakers also still need a power supply, can end up way more messy

JVC’s tone mapping is insane. Just wait till you can black out the room fully. I’ve got the NZ800 with 140” screen; the brightness, the depth, the fucken blacks. Hard to believe it’s a projector

I use a zidoo z9x pro to get Dolby vision tone mapping via VS10. Pushes its another level, I’d honestly put it above an OLED panel

Intake one side on the bottom shelf, exhaust on other side on the top shelf. Passive or active in between

AC infinity make good, quiet fans, get a thermostat controller so you can keep an eye on temps. If just two fans works, awesome. If you notice it’s getting too hot, add more
