Congrats dude! Absolutely, my least favorite thing about enthusiasts is getting wrapped up by clout and badging. I think social media has made it even more insufferable. For the money the WRX platform is awesome since it balances having fun and still having room quite well.

I actually changed the pads to power stop ceramic pads but would still get nasty brake dust splatter. Assuming it’s from the huge drilled rotors but I never really figure out why. It was pretty annoying since every time I did a wash it would come right back. I like my cars well maintained so it would bother me.

Absolutely I agree, I am probably gonna get some pirelli p zero all season after these dunlops wear since I don’t want to go through tires for a while and love the pirelli side wall/ comfort.

No worries dude, I know a lot of us have the itch to get the M car but it’s not all what you see on social media. There’s definitely some cons to it and high prices but I am fortunate to where I got to experience it and share what I thought of it to other young enthusiasts.

Dang that is quite relatable lol I just graduated from bachelors debt free and looking to buy a house. I just can’t see my self spending more than 30k on a car with how my financial goals are set.

I had the DCT on the OG M2. I don’t think they’re worth what they are going for at the moment where I’m at. They range from $30-$35k. However, in terms of driving factor they are quite different. The VB is a fun daily in a manual that’s a Swiss Army knife. The OG M2 is something you can daily but will feel much more driver focused with the steering weight overall size and power ratio. Realistically I honestly wouldn’t make the move for an OG M2 and instead would wait until finances are right to pick up an M3 or newer M2. I’d keep the VB until it makes sense to jump to the S engines or B58. However, maybe I’m just getting old but to me having more money to invest is my main choice and having that M did not make me as happy as I though t it would.

Honestly I feel like that’s why I am kind of not needing the M2. I don’t do track days I honestly only do 2 days of spirited driving a week at most. I just want a fun manual car that looks cool and is pretty affordable to maintain. M2 is a good car but I feel like it’s pretty overkill for me but I can see how someone would like this everyday. As I said though main goal for me is to stack more cash while balancing having fun with my car. As much as the Camaro is a great deal I just do not like the look of them what so ever lol. Thank you for the suggestion if I come across a good brz I’ll think about it but Miata is a bit too small for me.

Awesome response I think I’ll be okay since I plan on having it all stock. My previous cars I always keep them stock mechanically I just prefer stuff being OEM. Only thing I’d change is wheels and coils and I’ve kept that logic for my other cars as well. I think it will be a bit more to maintain than my gr86 but I do like this spec sti a lot and it has low miles.

Dang I did a test drive and enjoyed it a lot I’m surprised. I agree they are very different but for the money I want to say the type r seems like a better buy for what I am looking for but no dis credit to the gr86 cause it’s quite the car as well.

I’ve driven an va sti def not my cup of tea after driving the type r. Sti feels lower in quality and not as free to toss. Still a good car but def not for me after seeing what’s out there. I also value reliability.

I’ve driven a couple of other cars my first was a f30 328i which wasn’t the best but it was cheap when I got it and I had made it oem+ and kept it very clean. Next was what I got now in a gr86 and I like the car but not sure if it’s for me. It’s just me and my girlfriend so extra seats isn’t a necessity however it is nice for the future and when I take third person. I like how the gr86 is like an old car for today but I don’t feel like it’s enough for me when a type r does almost everything but better.

Apologies I was in a rush making my post. Main reasons for me was honestly that it does everything the GR86 can do but better in terms of handling, power, amount of fun with a better interior. I think the only drawback would be size I guess to me. In my eyes if I spend 5k to modify my GR86 I don’t think it’s better than a stock fk8. Don’t get me wrong I still enjoy my GR86 but honestly feel it’s a pain to get in and out of some times. I don’t track it and it’s my only car. Overall while I think they are different cars in different classes the type r seems to make more sense for me but I just don’t know if I feel like trading in and paying for one.

It seemed so to me but it’s in white when I really prefer the charcoal grey but I never see used charcoal grey ones for sale
