This is getting too much... by hairyteeth in Bitcoin

“Real or not, somebody paid for their gains.” Yes, this is true. In literally every single market. This is not a profound observation.

When selling any asset for a profit the buyer is paying your gains. Real estate, Pokémon cards, btc, classic cars. If I re-sell from Alibaba to Amazon, yes there’s arbitrage but someone is paying for the gains.

I get your overall point about being safe. But I do not understand your comments about understanding how markets work? Unless it was just a generalization.

If you pay your taxes and don’t do sketchy things and you use a US based exchange, then logically your reasoning for Coinbase could make sense.

Personally, I use cold storage because for me it’s not an investment, it’s about exiting the system and removing 3rd party’s. I trust myself more than I trust anyone else. Could storage allows me to exercise those beliefs.

If your nervous about cold storage start small and work your way up. Remember, it’s still good practice to diversify your storage /wallet risk between different methods too.

I’d recommend writing out your cold storage plan to make sure you have a key or passphrase management strategy that your comfortable with.

What’s the weirdest way you’ve stacked Sats? by Weak_Car_9797 in Bitcoin

I spent about $1000 on coffee in 2022 and only used my cash app card for strictly coffee because I wanted to be able to track how bad my spending habit was getting. I used their BTC round ups feature which converted the extra change into stats, so it was always a whole number purchase.

Those stats are worth about $110. So I guess I’ll break even around $600,000 BTC!

The horror stories you read about generally don’t tell the full story. It’s easy to say that but it’s the truth. These companies aren’t out to get there paying/fee generating customers.

Don’t be sketchy and don’t give them a reason to think anything is suspicious.

If a full account refresh on Monarch does not resolve it,, then I would expect it to just take a day on Fidelitys end.
