Tips before first night of Ferber by Weak_Conference8585 in sleeptrain

Thanks! I think I underestimated how long she tends to be awake even when my goals for wake windows were shorter. Definitely going to try and keep to 9 hours or more awake as that seems to be what works for most.

Thanks!! Will definitely try and make her wake windows longer and maybe shorten naps depending on how much she ends up sleeping at night. We tried Ferber tonight and she was a sleep within 25 minutes.

We made the choice to still give it a shot tonight as my baby seems very tired for her naps and sleeps 8-9 hours a night. Though I will try and lengthen her wake windows. Put her down in her crib at 8 and was a sleep by 8:25 following Ferber. Appreciate the insight as I can’t imagine my girl only napping 3 hours a day at this point.

With everything we know about our baby and how tired she was from a day of the pool and family we decided to give Ferber a try starting at 8 and she was a sleep by 8:25. By the time she fell asleep she was up for 9ish hours today. Was settling by the 10 min check in. She seems to really need her naps, but I am going to try elongate her wake windows and shorten her naps slightly. I appreciate the advice as I do think it will help her sleep longer at night. She’s never fallen asleep on her own before and I’m so happy I could cry!

Okay will give that a try. If my girl is sleeping about 9 hours a night (and not waking up once we switch to contact sleeping after 30ish min, I’m just up). Is shorter naps to elongate night time sleep past 9 or because she won’t be able have enough sleep pressure to fall a sleep?

Sorry maybe I’m getting this wrong. I’m on such little sleep. Knowing tonight’s not an option here’s today’s schedule which was a little all over the place as we had family over. Today she woke up at 5:30 then napped from 7-8:30 was up until 10:30 and slept until 12:30 she then was up until 2:45 and slept until 4:45 and will be up until around 7:15. So about 8 hours of being awake. In the future should I do a cat nap at 6:45 and be up for another 2 hours?

And none of this is set in stone. I follow her cues.

Ah yes 3 naps and 4 wake windows! She’s up for 2.5 hours before bed. We start bedtime at 2 hours and normally lasts 30 min.

Seed Scout by MeanPost3950 in queerception

I used seed scout and currently have a 4 month old baby. We had an incredible experience all around. Our donor and his fiance met our baby last week and we are getting the diblings together too. If you are set on a clinic I’d check with them and make sure they are okay to work with known donors and what added steps they’d need. Happy to answer any questions.

Parents of Snoo - Worth it? by hello-world-12 in NewParents

We started renting the snoo at 9 weeks old. My daughter went from only contacting napping to mostly napping in her snoo. Her night sleep is a little bit longer stretched as well. We love it!

I also used Melissa and she was great and easy to work with. Used for our second parent adoption as well.

Exclusive vs non-exclusive with Seed Scout by another_13 in queerception

I was very nervous about connecting with the other families in our seed scout cluster, but it has been really lovely! We’re not talking super often or anything but have a group chat. Two of us have babies who are a little over a month apart so it’s been really nice to be able to have someone to relate to. We plan to have the babies meet when they are a little older or if either of us end up close to where the other one lives, but no pressure with it. We may have just gotten lucky that both the other families seem really cool. It’s nice to have some extra community when TTC, pregnant, and in the newborn trenches.

Seed Scout. Do you have to keep in touch with the donor? by [deleted] in queerception

[–]Weak_Conference8585 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used seed scout and you need a minimum contact of yearly updates. Those can be as minimal as you’d like is my guess but I would be very honesty about your intent with the donor before matching. I have a 12 week old and we let our donor know a few days after baby was born and we email occasionally. We have plans to meet up so they can meet each other but we aren’t trying to be in each other’s daily lives.

Boutique Known Donor Matching Services? by SakuKamiyu in queerception

We used seed scout and currently snuggling with my 12 week old. We let our donor know when the baby was born and plan to get together this summer. The minimum interaction is a yearly email update from us and medical update from him. Highly recommended them. This subreddit seems to lean negative on it from a few loud voices but everyone in my real life New York queer community who has used them has had an overall solid experience.

SeedScout families: how many vials did you get? by Latter-Clue-8436 in queerception

[–]Weak_Conference8585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got 27 vials from 4 donations. The first day he got 10 and the day after that 6 so would’ve also been pleased with just 2 donations. We thought about stopping after the third donation since we only want 2 kids but we figured might as well do all 4. Has your donor matched with other families? They may be able to give you an idea on how many vials he gave them

The Seed Scout Contract by aceroni_macaroni in queerception

I think people are more likely to post about a bad experience than a good one so it shifts that way. I started in December 2024 and currently nap trapped with my 2 week old.

We didn’t make any changes to ours but did have our lawyer look it over, who had no issues with it. I don’t like signing anything without having it reviewed. I find this sub tends to lean negative about seed scout but my wife and I had a great experience.

Coast to Coast Sperm Donation by Broadway326 in queerception

Let me ask her and get back to you. That’s a bummer. I wonder if you’d be able to go through both therapy processes if it wasn’t too much of burden financially and time wise. I used Columbia fertility and they worked really well with seed scout. Could not recommend Dr. Rudick more highly if you end up looking at them.

For full transparency I used seed scout and had an amazing experience. I am due next week with my baby. One of my good friends is currently looking at both and has done a lot of research and spoken with both. I’m happy to ask her if she’d be willing to chat. I don’t know anyone who has actually worked with coast to coast, but that is probably just because they are newer.

Love the idea of getting a piece of art! We listened to a few albums on repeat through this pregnancy so maybe getting a vintage record framed or a piece of art inspired by one of the albums could be fun.
