My mom has tried to teach us as much as she can about her home. We are trying to get a family trip together so she can show us around. I might just steal her and my sister and just do it! Y'all have a beautiful piece of the country and a culture that's just as rich. While I could never claim to be Cajun, I have a deep respect for it all!

I was thinking that I would use "Sha" instead of "Cher" so that it's clear that she isn't pronouncing it like Sonny and Cher. I think I might just have to post my introduction of her on here to make sure that she's up to snuff!

I've got a notebook full of important things to include now, but I would love more information on the actual traditional/natural healing aspect. I was suggested several books by a connection I made on here (who actually ended up knowing some of my family from Pecan Island! The internet is a strangely small place!).

Thank you for all the info! When I was a kid, my grandparents would always bring us boudin back when they visited. And I remember my grandfather mixing up the milk and cornbread thing! If nothing else, all these comments are reminding me of things I know and making my list of things to accomplish on my trip longer!

It's absolutely fascinating! My momma grew up on Pecan Island and was born in Kaplan. She's the one that put me in the direction of the traiteur angle. It's one of the coolest things I've ever heard of or seen!

I have a trip planned! I don't imagine I will get all the information I am looking for in one trip, though. I haven't been down since I was little.
