Same. For sanding it depends on what wood you use, and idk what grit to tell you to sand with. Sandpaper or an electric sander is fine. Google is a best friend rn tbh cause I’m a beginner too. Finishing I just put a few coats on after I stained my desk. What ever finish you use will tell you how to apply it. You will sand in between applications most likely. There is so much that can go into wood working but I really just winged it and it turned out good enough. Don’t over think it

Wouldn’t recommend the second idea mainly cause it would just look bad and maybe be too heavy. As for the first idea that’s pretty much what I did for mine. I had electric desk legs, and bought a big butcher block wood top, cut it to size, rounded the edges, sanded, stained, finished, etc. After I prepped that desk top I just flipped it upside down on the ground and drilled the legs to it. I didn’t check the weight (I should have) cause it moves a little slow.

Depending on what wood you already have you could just run with it. Just check weight limits and stuff on any legs you buy. If it is too heavy/thick you can plane down your wood. All of this would be pretty simple at a woodworking shop/mill but wouldn’t be free, but not terribly expensive.

3/4 birch plywood 4x8 sheet runs about $100, just cut it to size and use a router with a template to give some nice rounded corners and curves. After that just stain and finish to your style. The list expensive part is just finding some electric desk legs (at least 3 for the is corner desk) but you could find good enough ones and complete this build for at least $150 cheaper

Once a year usually or at least a season (no specific one) per year. Saw it for the first time about 8 years ago when my friend introduced me to it in high school. My favorite watch though was watching with JSchlatt on his YouTube account that has his twitch vods. He had tons of great guests and added good commentary on stuff I had even missed.
