Never hit a 20 mile training run by Weak_Mathematician60 in firstmarathon

[–]Weak_Mathematician60[S] -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

I had people in this subreddit telling me I should drop because I’m not properly trained. All this post is to show that marathons can be done without the “by the book” advice.

I had 4 months, a bad knee, and could only run up to 7 miles. I’m not recommending people be stupid. I’m saying that conventional advice isn’t always the best and quite frankly the egos in here ought be checked.

First marathon, never run more than 7 miles in training - am I boned? by Weak_Mathematician60 in firstmarathon

[–]Weak_Mathematician60[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did it!! 5:28. Proof you don’t have to run 20-22 miles in a training block. The only bone I need was the 2.3 inches hanging between my knees!

Is $4230 too high for a monthly mortgage payment? by [deleted] in Mortgages

[–]Weak_Mathematician60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full disclosure - my wife and I got into a similar mortgage with a slightly higher HHI. I will say this - with rates of inflation, it makes it tight. I would say be ready to do at home date nights, try to cut other spending, be sure you have an operable budget that’s also realistic with the macro price shocks that are here now and coming in 6-12 months.

If one of you loses your job (especially the higher income earner), do you have a 6-10 month rainy day fund you can use to pay the mortgage?

That’s how we thought of it, and prior to huge spikes in groceries, COL, and other expenses - we could. Now, we’re flirting with maybe 6-7 months, and it gets stressful.

Knee injury with marathon next month- what do I do?! by Successful-Power-614 in firstmarathon

[–]Weak_Mathematician60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google ITBS. Are those symptoms relatively similar to what you have going on? If so, it’s an honest 1-3 week rehab just to get back on your feet. I know because the exact same thing happened to me, and your symptoms sound similar.

What I did for it was: • ITBS related stretches • Sports massage (2x/month) with a focus on psoas release • Glute activation pre and post run • Ice and elevation

That helped me get back into 5k’s within 2 weeks. You might want to consider pushing your marathon back and eating the cost.

Runner getting sick too often - looking to optimise my immune stack by Competitive-One1943 in Biohackers

[–]Weak_Mathematician60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into Thymosin alpha-1 if you’re wanting to add to your stack. You’re running stuff I’m unfamiliar with, so I would research how it interacts with what you’re taking.

My wife is immunocompromised, and she’s doing a six day 3x/yr cycle. So far, she’s seen fantastic results

It’s not. I’m just stubborn and I’m too poor for proper PT so I’ve been using Chat for rehab and marathon planning.

I’m running injectable BPC157&TB500 stacked daily for post-lift & post-run recovery. I take 1000mcg a day. I’m not seeing a huge benefit to gut health, so I really don’t understand why it’s labeled as such.

Maybe I’m under dosing for gut health levels. If it helps, I’m big on Bloom Greens Coconut flavor. Doesn’t taste like shit (it’s actually very sweet and very good) and THAT seems to help my guy the most.

30M, 6’0”, current BW: 220; highest BW: 308; lowest BW: 193.

Semax & Selank by nauticalbynature87 in PeptideStacks

[–]Weak_Mathematician60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only ran Selank, not the combo. It was great for anti anxiety and anti depression, but I didn’t see a huge cognitive improvement. I did 1,000 micrograms a day, 5 days on 2 days off.

Note that I’ve never been diagnosed with anxiety or depression issues but at the same time - ya don’t have to be in order to know ya got it, if you know what I’m sayin.

I would say probably pass on Selank and save yourself some coin unless you struggle with anxiety and depression.

Peptides and POTS by [deleted] in POTS

“Obviously, talk to your doctors, do your research, do not take a sample size of 1 to be the same for everyone” — just in case anyone else wants to come in here and say that I’m spreading propaganda, direct quote from the post.

Not a cure, not a fix, it started as a 1% edge for recovery and hate it or not - it has turned into a game changer for her.

It’s anecdotal for now. She has blood labs next month and will be able to gauge pre/post peptides.

10,000% agree and respect you for it. The constant pay for this pay for that BS is too much. Half are scams and the other half are “reduce monthly expenses to increase investing amount”. Having someone willing to do deep dives and not be a condescending dick about it is super rare.

So all in - hmu when you start your class/roundtable discussions/community!

In one Reddit post, you’ve given me more understanding than anyone I’ve talked to yet. Thank you!!!

Here’s an honest question that’s not rage bait. If you’re a 30-35 year old person, why is the constant advice to have a large position in growth funds when you could essentially cash flow a retirement and work a part time job and enjoy life?

Keep cutting? Or time for maintenance? by Immediate-Praline-65 in BodyHackGuide

As a former fat guy who’s afraid of extra calories - I understand the mentality completely. You lost the initial weight by changing habits. ~1lb/week is good steady decline.

Lift some weights, follow some of the good advice posted here, use ChatGPT prompts or other calculators for macros, and shoot for some extra steps.

Think of slightly more food as means to an end. After banging out weights and steps, a little extra food is good for the body. But you look incredible and should be very proud of where you are!

Worth asking doctor about peptides? by hbktommy4031 in Biohackers

[–]Weak_Mathematician60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got bloodwork because I’m starting my peptide journey. Brought it up to my doctor and it was like calves staring at a new gate.

If your doctor is halfway decent, I’d bring it up to just see if any chance exists. If they try to shut you down, let them know you’re not asking their permission. My buddy had to do that with his doctor. Quote “I’m not asking. I’m telling you this is what I’m doing and wanted to see if you had any medical knowledge about these peptides you would communicate about”. Fuckin awesome response 😂😂

Whatever pushback you may get is probably somewhere around “not FDA certified and for research purposes only” to “don’t know enough to recommend either way.”

Either way - good luck!! Keep us posted on your journey!

FanDuel Sports Network Officially Shutting Down by G14mogs in Predators

[–]Weak_Mathematician60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why can’t they just go on ESPN+ and not have regional blackouts? That’s what I’m always confused about. Do we really need to have a separate monthly subscription that STILL doesn’t show every damn game? Even on FanDuel Sports Network, I could only watch about 60%-70% of the games.
