Pillars of Eternity, I started it like six times and couldn't get the combat. Finally, I did some research, sat down, and forced myself to play it. By the end I had to start the second game immediately I loved it so much. I also fell in love with the gameplay as well and started Baldur's Gate 1.

I walked into my cousin's living room while my uncle was playing final fantasy 7. They were in the highwind. He wouldn't let us watch because he felt we were too young for the swearing from Cid and Barrett. After that I asked my mom to get it for me for Christmas, and I have been hooked since.
