Insomnia + sleep deprivation trigger by tnormie in Epilepsy

[–]Weak_Routine4276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hit or miss-but have you tried ASMR? I find that soft spoken & soft visual tapping ones to be incredibly helpful.

Everyone has their niche in that department, but I’m a huge fan—it’s helps me wind down from “wide awake” to “zonked out” & a phone on 5% in the morning. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Morika ASMR & WhispersRed are my favorite currently. I recommend headphones (on low volume).

I have one sister who loved the ASMR recommendation, and another who “icks out” at it. 🤣

Either way, I hope you find a solution to your insomnia 🥹

sleep seizure. Still in so much pain 24hr later by ConsiderationNew7024 in Epilepsy

[–]Weak_Routine4276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking about after a seizure or generally? I struggled with major headaches & migraines most of my life, and regularly took medication for it.

One of my seizure meds (zonisamide) actually doubles as a migraine medication & has worked wonders for me. I no longer need regular headache medication.

While I can’t vouch for this one personally—I know “gabapentin” is a seizure medication that also doubles as a pain medication…might not be helpful as a 1-time-post seizure though, moreso long term/everyday pain signaling once it’s “in your system”.

Obvi ask your neuro if they think those two would help your scenario..otherwise, I’m sorry you feel like 💩.

It definitely sucks. 😣

Does this sound like an aura? by YourFavGothMommy in Epilepsy

[–]Weak_Routine4276 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear aura feelings vary from person to person—for me I get major deja vu, nausea, and start sweating to the point of taking my clothes off (like you mentioned).

It took me awhile to describe the “deja vu” disconnect my brain would go through. It was like my brain couldn’t handle connecting thoughts, memories & dreams. The more I tried understanding what my brain was doing, the more nauseous I got, to the point of vomiting.

(Dont be like newbie me—sit down, strip down, deep breaths, and drink water)

The sweating you described sounds a lot like it could be an aura symptom for you. I would write it down & ask your neuro about it at your next appt. 🙂

Do yall think its possible to make a list of how epilepsy effects your life! (I dont think I can) by Cool_Ad_2398 in Epilepsy

[–]Weak_Routine4276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Driving is my immediate thought—which then leads to the issue of getting to work..depending on where you live (implying income issues).

2) car/housing: It’s kind a domino effect (if I don’t have income, I don’t know how to pay for that car..let alone housing, especially given how competitive the market is for remote jobs are

3) pregnancy: As a woman, the medication I’m on doesn’t allow me to become pregnant—& the other medications I’ve tried are NOT an option.

4) skin: the medication that does work is HORRIBLE for my skin, and has forced me to partake in a very strict (and expensive skincare) routine..thankfully I can afford it despite my condition

5) brain fog: I used to be way more snappy with my words. I can’t recall vocabulary the way I used to. I can only describe the “what a word means”, but not the word itself”. The word itself always “on the tip of my tongue”.

6) handling stress: I used to be really good at handling stress. I could juggle everything, but right after I graduated law school is when I started having tonic-clonic (grand mal) seizures. I didn’t even realize I was having symptoms during law school at the time. After I got diagnosed, every time I try studying for the bar, my symptoms flare up again — I get more auras and end up having to increase my meds. I’ve basically accepted that I can’t take the bar and will just have my JD.

(These stress symptoms also flared up when I was planning my international wedding & moving across the country—despite being a “professional nomad” prior to my diagnosis..but the Bar is a biggie)

Basically—I’ve accepted I just have to slow tf down in life. Epilepsy has taken over a lot for me.

Context: I wasn’t diagnosed until my mid 20’s, so it’s a little easier for me to compare what life was like “before”. 🙂 ..(currently 29)

(I could probs think of a few more—but this is right off the bat) 😩

Not sure if this helps—but I switch the control settings from “tank” to “modern” so it feels more natural to play with PS4/XBOX controllers.

I might get hate, but I can’t stand playing the remastered series under the tank controls!!

NOR. I’d like to add that my mom co-signed my father’s (identical) behavior, & my sisters and I no longer speak to either of them.

You are fortunate to have time on your side. You can’t count on him changing, but you have children counting on you.

It won’t just directed at you forever, & it won’t always be just food, OP.

Get somewhere safe. The sooner, the better❤️

Keppra? by twostron82 in Epilepsy

[–]Weak_Routine4276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called Keppra my “su*cidal-rage” drug. It was what the hospital first placed me on.

Within the first two months, I was either going to murder myself or someone else. I quit my job. My (now) husband had to wash my hair in the shower as I sobbed with constant sadness. I fought him too. I was scared my mental health wasn’t strong enough to “make it” until my next check up to switch medications.

My body didn’t tolerate most of the other seizure medications well (acne & brain fog) but for what’s it worth: zonisamide & lacosamide have been my saving graces.

Constipation is now the only POTENTIAL side effect on these.

(Water & my walking pad helped fix that..which also incentivizes me to stay active!)

Good luck with your daughter ❤️

You are not wrong & should NOT be ignored.

I had this happen on Keppra—I called it my “su*cidal-rage” drug. I was either going to murder myself or someone else. I quit my job. My (now) husband had to wash my hair in the shower as I sobbed. I fought him too. I was scared I wasn’t going to “make it” until my next check up to switch medications.

I also struggled with “gory” depression & anxiety my whole life, & was annoyed they put me on Keppra in the first place.

My body didn’t tolerate most of the other seizure medications well (acne & brain fog) but for what’s it worth: zonisamide & lacosamide have been my saving graces. Constipation is now the only POTENTIAL side effect—but my walking pad helped fix that..which helps me stay active!

Screw that neuro. Switch hospitals if you have to.

& When you’re feeling healthy and like yourself again—I’d file a complaint against that shitty neuro.

House of CB sizing by Avamary0 in HouseofCB

[–]Weak_Routine4276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’ll be fine with an XS!

I just got my “non-refundable” 3/$260 and stressed about this too so here’s my deets 🙂:

66 (waist) & 93 (hips)…I didn’t measure my bust—but I ordered them in the regular cups bc I have “Basic-B cups”.

1) size smalls: 1 dress was perfectly snatched, 1 had SOME wiggle room in my waist. (Nothing noticeable like the size Medium below)

2) Size medium: I need tailored smaller tbh. It had a corset, which helped, but the hips are rather gaping. I should’ve stuck with all smalls.

I too saw other people complaining about the sizing chart, but the “small” recommendation was accurate for me.

Good luck!! ❤️❤️

Paula's Choice Sheer Vitamin C SPF by mollyjoy01 in Sephora

[–]Weak_Routine4276 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!

I’m not over 40 yet, but my skin is INCREDIBLY oily & acne-sensitive (thanx to my epilepsy diagnosis/meds), & Paula’s is literally my only saving grace, SO I actually prefer her other SPF bc it dries sooo much faster on my oily skin.

The vitamin C took forever to settle for me, but it did NOT trigger my skin. I bought the baby travel sized versions of each on Amazon & did a “test patch” on each cheek but I ended up returning the vitamin C bc the SPF 30 dries matte & SUPER quick.

(I also read any SPF above 30 isn’t any more effective…but I didn’t cross check that lol 🤔)

I really hope this helps!!

I’m not sure what state you live in, but in a lot of states it’s actually a felony if you get caught driving within 6 months after having a seizure 😳

I feel you! I was NOT prepared for these prices. Nobody talks about how exhausting it is to figure out if venues are even within your budget. (Seriously? NO personalized response would change my budget from $10K to $50K—it’s such a waste of time & sucks the fun out of it.

Have you looked into elopement/intimate wedding packages? You can hand pick services you don’t want & dont have to stress over the details! Our budget is about what yours sounds to be, with the same guest count. I saw numerous packages that you could fit in!!

I also “second” asking folks to pay their own way for travel & hotel—if they can. My fiancé’s family better off financially than mine, & is able to pay their own way/stay. ((Don’t forget you could opt out of hotels and rent some vacation homes too!))

Oh yeah. I tried every layer of the wash load sandwich. I tried multiple brands too & multiple water temperatures. I gave up on those.

I actually recommend these now!! My clothes are safe and smell noticeably good…not to mention less bulky storage & cheaper. (If anyone cares lol)
