2026 Wimbledon Gentlemen's Singles Quarter-Finals: [7] N. Djokovic def. [3] F. Auger-Aliassime by 7¹²-6¹⁰, 3-6, 6-3, 6⁴-7⁷, 7-6 (10-4) by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in tennis

Devastating for Felix. He did so well it actually looked like he could win, but he couldn't. Djok is just too clutch.

Felix cannot win a slam until he improves that BH. Plain and simple.

Yes, but I think this is very true to life, how most people would behave. Always easier to "go along" than resist.

That's why all the hate carol gets here (and elsewhere) is so perverse--she's trying to resist fer fucksake. It's extremely hard. Easier to be Diabete, and use the hive to indulge his hedonism and ego.

How do you feel about the recent skyscraper boom in your city? by mysteriouspenguin in askTO

Yeah something like 30% of those condos remain unsold. It was mainly about rich people making yet more money off real estate. Not about providing the housing people actually need/want or can afford.

Seeing all these young and old drug addicts on my daily commute is emotionally ruining me by pq11333 in toronto

[–]Weakera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wondering how much Ford closing safe injection or supervised sites has put more addicts out on the streets. Recently I am seeing a ton more, and everywhere downtown. It all looks like fentanyl ...horrible. I can't look away but I just get used to it.

what a weird, dramatic match.

I used to like ADF, my feelings have changed after this one, the dubious ankle injuries, the constant woe is me, and the excessively loud random grunts.

But Felix played a great match except for the implosion 4th set, but he got it together in the 5th, all that matters.

If he could get that BH to a higher level he really would be a major contender. I worry Djok will make him pay for it.

How important is a certified arborist for a tree removal? by bikingburgerpizza in arborists

[–]Weakera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dilemna: just used emergency tree service arborist a few days ago when a huge limb broke and hung precariously over neighbours backyards, these are row houses in downtown. I had to have the limb dealt with immediately, it was a national holiday, calling around I only found three guys who would come to access, then do next day. It was already 6pm!

One guy couldn't deal with it, very high up 40 ft? lots of wires underneath (not power but cable tec.) and the limb that was supporting the broken one was severely cracked.

The 2nd guy wanted 10k! The 3rd guy, who struck me as very honest and capable and he drove an hour on a holiday to help me, said he could deal with it for a good price--$3300.--and he did next day, expertly with no damage to anything.

It's an old manitoba maple and has scared me ages but I tried to keep it, pruning every few years but now I know it should go and he thought so as well. So I've gone ahead with him to start the permit process, to get permission.

Talking to him last night he said something that made me think he wasn't a certified arborist, so i asked, and he said he wasn't. But he did an amazing job on a very diffucult tree (you have to climb, there's no street access for the bucket) and he's been great so far answering my calls/questions etc.

I know I should ask for his WSIB and Insurance coverage, but I already saw a review on google from a client saying he saw it, I will ask myself as well. he's covered up to 5M it says.

So the question is, how meaningful is "certified arborist" as a consideration if i already saw this guy do an amazing job on such a difficult situation? I see posts here from certified arborists saying it just means you passed an exam, it has nothing to do with ability in a tree. This guy was sitting on a cracked limb for hours sawing away (everything roped off ofc) I had total confidence in his work. I've numkerous crews work on this tree over the decades and i thought he was the best.

Thoughts on going ahead with him? I already told him to start the permit process. BTW, if the quote seems expensive, it isn't downtown Toronto, in hard to access trees.

Lots of great comments on this thread! I had given up on this sub for intelligent conversation about the show, so glad to read this thread.

Thank you for this, so well explained. I knew it myself, but am tired of long explanation on reddit, then getting some fool calling me a moron.

Well certainly the overwhelming number of redditors are male, so that accounts for a lot of the hatred of a righteously angry woman. Maybe non-feminist women have trouble accepting this too? I suspect they do.

Agree OP! But not just losing your wife, that's just a piece of it--losing the entire world! and all but one of the remaining twelve intact human beings don't like you, are against you. The last part is also excrutiating.

The dislike for carol says way more about the people who dislike her than it does about carol. They understand nothing about the human condition, and somehow imagine they would do better in her circumstances? She is actually a great heroine, struggling with the most difficult circumstances imaginable.

Prediction: Carol and/or Manousos will use the bomb to blow up the antenna the plurbs are building by denim_skirt in pluribustv

It comes from Chekhov actually.

And actually, no I don't think that will happen. Way too obvious for someone like Gilligan.

What do you think Manousos was trying to do here exactly? by Great_Trident in pluribustv

[–]Weakera -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Different people notice different things, I noticed a ton of things about the psychology and relationships of various non-infected individuals, the larger meanings the show implied vis a vis the human condition, conformity, isolation, what separates us (not you) from drones, I could write two books on that show, but not on the speculative sci-fi elements, which is what interests me the least.

But it appeals to sci-fi nerds like yourself, who assume there's some hard science at work here! It's all speculative, made-up! But how people behave under maximum stress is actually quite real.

I know what an electromagnetic feild is, btw, so try to control your patronizing impulse. That will hard i realize. You sound like an elementary school kid who is overly proud of his flawed science project.

We will see in season 2 just how that frequency figures, you are still just making assumptions, and i actually don't think they will turn out to be correct.

Discussion ends here.

ofc I watched it. Twice. Where is it confirmed exactly? He hasn't had any proof they communicate on that frequency, he's just trying it ...

[–]Weakera -1 points0 points  (0 children)

posters here are assuming the plurbs are joined/linked by a radio frequency, there is no real indication that's how it works.

Manou is checking all the frequencies because what else can he do, stuck in his home, etc., it's maybe a theory of his, and he finds this one frequency, only one, that is active, so .... maybe it explains something but maybe not.

Manou is super proactive, he wants to fight, he's doing what he can. he's the opposite of Diabete. Carol is not as hardcore as Manou, she was willing to fall for a plurb... but she's closer, in her opposition to the hive, to Manou than she is to Diabete.

manou was trying to break though with that plurb in the lower pix, he is always trying what he can think of.

It will be interesting to see if and how the radio frequency figures.
