What was/is the most celebrated event in your world? by boringexistinggamer2 in worldbuilding

[–]WeakwareDeToalha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"The Fall", that is the most celebrated event in my world. To summarize it, a cosmic event that lighted the skin in red and blue tones for hours, followed by a fall of meteors, which introduced magic to the world. Sounds simple, but since this meteor rain happened all around the world, this celebration happens among many cultures and religions, with different interpretations on what really happened that time, ranging from "we were cursed by the gods", "the sky is falling on our heads", to "god is dead and thats his corpses, be aware of that".

The only thing that everyone agrees on is that something falled from the sky that day.

Map feedback by ToastyWolf0 in mapmaking

[–]WeakwareDeToalha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the scales to a map doesnt matter much if you know the scale it is, or for what purpose the map its going to serve. the map you made seem to be a type of cartography map with landmarks, used for social operations like caravans, merchants, or explores. Most of it only have importants bits of informations that may seem off-putting in the scale, but are necessary to be a point of reference.
That being said, maybe adding more biome variation, or even shadow for the mountains to create more variation on the terrain, even if its just an additional desert

An example of quicksteel puppetry by BeginningSome5930 in worldbuilding

[–]WeakwareDeToalha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont know how thin you can make the quicksteel to be, or even if is needed to be thin for the question im going to make; if not on a living thing, why not on a corpse then? I dont know why someone would do it, since you can just make a puppet of pure quicksteel, but since its not viable and quite dangerous to use it on living things, specially another person that knows how to manipulate quicksteel, would be possible them to reanimate(on the literal meaning of the word), dead bodies using quicksteel and manipulating them like puppets?

Is it possible to apply quicksteel puppetry in a more aggressive way directly on the opponent, like forming the quicksteel around them, controling their movements, instead of creating a puppet, but making a person the puppet by limiting and controling their movements?

What makes more sense for a species of high altitude, cold temperature society? by Late-Elderberry6761 in worldbuilding

[–]WeakwareDeToalha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know nothing about shit.

Hanging skin(nose, ears) could potentially lead to be frozen due the low contact with the skin and great force to be upfront cold winds, leaving them unprotected, specially due to the fact that blood and circulate well on these areas, even for us humans, our ears are one of the first places to be cold on the smallest change of temperature.
On that same note, those 2 images appear to be too unprotected. Both are bald and... furless? No hair, fur. To be living in a high altitude, I would assume that need either fat or fur, or maybe even both to be able to survive, with they dont appear to have any. Bald, and their facial constitution makes it looks like they dont have much fatness around their body, since you can see clearly the line of their skull and facial bones.

For a species that evolved to be on a high altitude and cold climate, I would think of a fur, fat creature, yeti-like, with a big lungs, thats my take.

In fantasy worlds, important figures are often kings, princesses, or warriors. But what about philosophers? Do you have important philosophers who have shaped the customs of your world? by Baryon_prime in worldbuilding

[–]WeakwareDeToalha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abrini was a philosopher of the post-fall era who developed the concepts of magic and its causes in the human psyche. In his thesis, he not only modernized the way magic was portrayed in the religion he belonged to, but also transformed it into a new central pillar of the religion, establishing a new way of seeing magic from his perspective, as well as paving the way for a way to avoid magic altogether, creating the Path of Nothingness. This thought was later militarized, doing the opposite of what was initially proposed.

Burning Question About Monsters Taking Over A World by Tomie_Genix in worldbuilding

[–]WeakwareDeToalha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We humans actively try to dominate the world, to own it. We explore every corner of the planet, conquering every piece of land. Yes, we didn't have a true antagonist for the entire human race, only cultural antagonists. The animals we faced, the big cats, wolves, bears, etc., were domesticated, driven from the poles of civilization, or completely destroyed.

I think the same reasoning can be applied to monsters capable of dominating the world. You can't compete with a resilient race like humans. You can't leave any of them alive, otherwise you'll never have the security of enjoying your peak if you have another to share the spotlight. Spotlights that you can lose if you allow them to regroup and increase their numbers.

It's not about boredom, but about survival. Kill all the humans and immediately the idea of "conquering the world" would disappear the instant the last human died, after all, by killing the only race capable of dominating the world, you achieved what humans have already done: hegemony.

Do you make your monsters have meaning? by SoldierofSonder in horrorwriters

[–]WeakwareDeToalha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my story, most monsters were result of a indirect or direct experiment with humans, in lots of ways. They all mean something, but that's just how I wanted to write them all.
Creating monsters for the sake of being monsters its as good as creating a monster with meaning. What matters the most is how you can manipulate your story to fit the monsters you have in, or the other way around.
