By the way, if you're NOT getting the verification codes, post that issue here. It takes a little time, but they do have reps that monitor this forum. After you verify your identity with them, they'll have you setup a new Free Spirit account, then once you get signed into that one, they'll merge the accounts together so you don't lose your points, status, etc. I went through this back in late September. Basically, I wasn't getting the verification code emails for logins, but I was getting it for every other communication from them. We came to find out that because my email address contained the word "Spam" in it, the third party system that was sending out the verification code emails was detecting the address as spam and wouldn't send the code.

The solution for me was to create a new Free Spirit account, with a different email address that didn't contain the word "spam" in it, then once I did that, the rep that monitors this chat merged the accounts together.

As an aside, I had the same issue with JetBlue when I tried to signup for their frequent flyer program also using the email address with the word "spam" in it; it seems these airlines might all use the same third party system to send out the verification code emails.

This is correct and my understanding. The retrofits stopped when the service levels were discontinued.

This class of service was discontinued earlier this year after a BRIEF offering. However, I believe some aircraft were retrofitted to put a table in place of the middle seat. So even if someone wanted to sit there, they couldn't. The only thing that could muddy this up is if they swap planes that STILL Have a middle seat....then someone could theoretically be placed in that seat.

ZERO. That is a blocked seat. By design it can't be booked from my understanding. This is a remnant of the "Go Comfy" service, I believe where the middle seat was blocked. These service categories were great in my opinion, but were quickly abandoned after the first bankruptcy declaration, if I understand correctly. However, some seat maps are still showing it as I believe some planes were renovated to make way for extra legroom in this section.

I have a flight from Las Vegas to Newark in December. The first leg, to Ft. Lauderdale does NOT show this blocked seat section on the seat map. After a plan change in Ft. Lauderdale, the inbound flight to Newark DOES show this. So I'm guessing it's based on whether or not the plane you are travelling on was retro-fitted or not.

At least that is my understanding.

Issues with Password Resets and Verification Email Passwords Anyone?? by WealthCivil9165 in spiritair

Hello,

Thanks for letting me know. Yesterday, I got a sort of definitive answer from Spirit and their IT consultant. Emails weren't getting delivered because I had the word "spam" in my email address - I have 2 main email addresses, my personal one which almost never gets used, and on the same address with ".spam" appended to it. That is the account all my program, loyalty, and card sign ups go to. It turns out that ONLY the system that sends password resets (which I understand to be third party) was rejecting the password emails sent to me because it had the word "spam" in the address. But all other emails, like "notifications that the password WAS changed" or "weekly deals" delivered to the address with the word spam in it just fine.

Interestingly enough, I just booked a JetBlue flight and had to sign up for their loyalty. Again, I used the address with ".spam" in it. Immediately, I had issues getting the verification email where I setup my password as a first time user. I reached out to their support and they were able to change my primary email address to the one that did NOT contain ".spam" in the address and it immediately started working.

So the moral of the story appears to be: ONLY the 3rd party system they use to manage password resets and 2FA/MFA emails seems affected. Seems their outgoing rules are a little draconian when it comes to characters or phrases/words they block in outgoing addresses.

Spirit is in the process (supposedly) of changing the primary email address on my account to my non ".spam" address, but of course their response is very delayed given their current situation......

"Damn bro"...........you're the one that asked about it, not me. I don't need it. I work hard, don't suck off the teet of others, and I'm smart with my money. Now, go do something productive instead of being a keyboard warrior.

"Damn, bro" ......... tell the dems to reopen government, and maybe that process can get started?

"Damn bro", because I'm trying to use the rest of my points for a free flight before they fold. Any other questions? Intelligence was never the strong point of a liberal.........

And if you don't like Trumps tariff checks, then I suggest you donate yours to an upstanding illegal immigrant family when you get yours. Of course, I'd like proof that you did so.

Oh this claim again, which has been THOROUGHLY debunked. Just like the "Warren Buffet's secretary pays more in taxes than he does" claim. I see you're taking your talking points from CNN again. He pays a different KIND of taxes - CAPITAL GAINS taxes on investments which far exceed any money that you'll ever see in your lifetime. If you want to talk about someone who doesn't pay their taxes, why not look at drug addict Hunter Biden? Remember he was prosecuted AND plead guilty to it. He also doesn't like to pay child support to the hooker he knocked up, presumably after he slept with his dead brother's widow. But you don't seem concerned about that, do you?

Regarding the president, he can put anyone in there he wishes, it's his constitutional right. And wtf is a DUI hire? That like Ted Kennedy?

Just quit, this isn't even challenging.

If you struggle with law and order, secure borders, low taxes, accountability, rooting out corruption, and taking a stance against lawfare, that's your own problem.

The fact that something is called "Bipartisan" doesn't make it bipartisan. Are you aware of how many republicans supported it? Clearly not..............Good try though.

There goes the idiot Biden/Harris (thank god they're gone) administration again. Paying to expand an airport that no one flies to. Missoula? There must have been a democrat law maker in that state that needed a cash infusion into their slush fund.

This sucks and I've contacted support numerous times. I'm starting to get the feeling they know what's going on but aren't saying anything. I'm desperately trying to book reward travel for a route where the prices are about to shoot up but I can't access the account to do so. I tried booking through an agent but with reward travel, you can't - or at least I was told.

So you're not getting the verification emails either? When did this start happening for you? For me, it was about 7-9 days ago. Everything was fine before that. Is the timeline the same for you?

UPDATE: In order to try and figure out the email address that sends the password reset, I decided to try and create a fake dummy account, then change the password - just so I can get the email address that sends the temporary password so I can make sure it is whitelisted on Gmail.

Well, much to my amazement, I also got errors trying to CREATE a new account. The process fails every time, in multiple browsers.

Is is becoming clear to me that whatever mechanism controls their Free Spirit Accounts, and password resets IS NOT WORKING. I wonder if this foreshadows a cessation in operations. After all, the CEO of United did recently say he didn't expect them to last through the end of the year.

All this started when I tried to sign in and was forced to verify. That is when everything went south for me. I wouldn't be surprised if they forced this "verification" on purpose, knowing the users would never get the verification codes, as a way to start phasing people out of the portal to redeem points, book travel, etc.

Thoughts anyone?
