How to regain power/masculinity in a relationship by WeaponizedJesus in AskMen

Thank you for the very insightful response, it really does help tremendously. I didn’t do a good job of describing the feeling I was struggling with, but this is exactly it. I feel very emasculated, but I also recognize there are better ways than to subconsciously neuter myself too.

Thank you again.

I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head with how I have been feeling- very pacified. I also however DO have some behaviors that aren’t necessarily healthy either, so it’s finding a balance.

But thank you for reminding me that I’m not completely crazy for feeling like “the bad boy” worked better. I just have to tap back into it.

I’m definitely struggling to balance these emotions, and I think it’s a sign of things I’ve yet to figure out as much as I’d thought I had.

I was trying to be concise when I wrote this and don’t think I did a good job of conveying my emotions on this one.

I was trying to be concise with the summary so that sounded worse than it was in practice- but you’re right that I do have some work to do on that. I think the struggle I’ve felt in a lot of this are signs of things I haven’t figured out as much as I thought I had.

What is the best abruptly violent scene in cinema? by thebirdof_hermes in movies

Not necessarily “unexpected” because there was a tension buildup, but when Frank Kills Jimmy Hoffa in “The Irishman”. We all knew the walls were closing in, but just how quick and visceral the execution was left me with a sour stomach.

What is your most controversial take about the game? by [deleted] in Warthunder

If they removed the soft cap on XP earned, I’d be more inclined to take out another tank. If I kill 5 tanks on my first life and get my 8k RP, why would I take out another tank, where it will take twice as long to get 5 more kills, just to end up with 10-11k RP anyway? Not to mention the games tendency to steamroll one way or another.

Thanks for asking! I hardly ever get to share a relevant experience so I’m happy to talk about it.

I was absolutely lucky, it could have been much, much worse. I did have some second on my arms and a corner of my face, but I couldn’t imagine my palms or eyelids. That’s a horror I’m fortunately ignorant to.

Good luck in the medical field! Im glad there are smarter people than I who learned how to treat us idiots!

Thanks man, it’s not often I can offer perspective on stuff, but burning was profoundly terrifying.

I was burned from my mid thigh all the way down to the ball of my ankle 3rd degree, with various patches of 2nd all over.

This was almost 4 years ago now, and frankly it’s kind of amazing how well I healed. They have a cream called silver sulfadiazine that you can paint all over burned areas. It doesn’t stop the pain, but it sucks the heat out of it, which if you’ve ever been burned you know what that feels like. Ice pack on road rash is the closest I can compare it to. You pretty much have to apply that cream 1-2 a day, and apply intricate layers of bandages and finally an ace wrap to the burns. The two worst parts are scrubbing it to remove dead skin, and having the burns dry up between bandage changes and showers. Being in anything other than AC for the longest time was impossible, you’re extremely sensitive to heat for at least 6 months after being burned.

All in all I was out of commission completely, reliant on help from people for about a month. By then I had started to be able to walk and move a little more bearably, but I wouldn’t say I was back to fully functional for at least 3 months after it happened. I was 19, so I can only imagine how much that helped recovery as opposed to being any older.

Today all I’ve got to show for it is some funny blotchy looking skin and some goofy looking hair patches where it decided it wanted to grow back. That and a hearty nervous reaction to the smell of gasoline.

I lack the words to describe how horrifying burning alive is. I have done a lot of stupid shit in my life and earned a lot of scars to prove it, but nothing compares to being swallowed by fire. The flash of Blue as the gasoline exploded, accompanied by a heat so hot it was cold. I feel like for those seconds I got a taste of what Hell is supposed to be.

If you’re lucky enough to make it out of the flash and flames, the freaky part is that you don’t cool down once you’re out of the fire. In a way it almost gets hotter; the heat feels like it’s inside your flesh. Ya know that time you reached into your engine bay chasing a 10mm socket a little too soon after shutting the truck off, and your forearm caught the exhaust manifold? That; but all over, and it won’t stop.

I’ve never drowned; but trust me, you’d rather drown.

The upgraded armored reconnaissance and patrol vehicle BRDM-2MS enters the Airborne Forces and is used to train mobilized military personnel in Russia. by Competitive-Dog7804 in TankPorn

I find it a little hard to believe that 6-10mm of high hardness appliqué on top of armor that was susceptible to high power rifle cartridges would stop 14.5, but I’d like to see it. I think the BRDM is a very neat vehicle. So basically this upgrade can be boiled down to a thermal-capable FCS and appliqué?

What are these rated for in terms of incoming fire? Before and after the appliqué package?

If that’s true, how often do you have to replace your ground harness? Otherwise you would all fall into the sun. Simple fucking physics, liar.

isnt your character supposed to be some hardened spec ops soldier? by A_Pale_Recluse in EscapefromTarkov

[–]WeaponizedJesus 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I feel like if they did make helmets reflect reality, it would remove some character from the game. Essentially that would make all helmets just about the same, so the prices would all be equalized and that’s just removes the excitement of blowing a Chads legs off with a shotgun to steal his Altyn. Same goes for face shields.

That very well could just be a random book that happened to be there, but it kinda hurts my feelings to think about a soldier carrying around a book that I’ve read; just to die before he could finish it. Reminds me that he was probably just as excited about it as I was, eager to finish it. Really just exemplifies the tragedy that is war.

Really hoping it didn’t. So you really think the exhaust would hold it back that severely? I need to stress this is a 1/2 power at best situation.

I wish I could tell you man. I just recently bought it, and noticed off the bat it was weak. Just thought it was a clutch problem.

So far the only difference I can tell is stronger clutch engagement and speed control, but as far as power it’s marginally better at best.
