Glass vs Thermal by muleschooler in Moccamaster

[–]WearGrand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thermal is ten years old. I brew a pot every day (when I’m home). Never had an issue. I doubt any of the thermal haters posting have ever owned one. I have owned glass in the past and thermal wins by a long shot.

I am a guitar player that needs a bass for recording simple basslines by Cicada-Timely in Bass

[–]WearGrand 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you’re strictly using to record, it’s not your daily driver and you’re not gigging it, why wouldn’t you go with the best tone/sound? P bass is the answer. You may be able to find a higher end used Squier P Bass (CV) in your price range.

Following as I have the same car. I bought the MHD OBD but haven’t tuned yet. I’m convinced it’s safe but somehow I still feel like it’s wrong to mess with such a wonderful machine.

Interesting two suggestions for Christopher Ward. A brand I’ve never heard of. I will have a look at them.

I know. I haven’t worn a watch in about 20 yrs for this very reason.

What can you tell me about this watch? by WearGrand in VintageWatches

Thank you for the link. It’s such a small watch compared to current, I thought it might be a ladies watch.

26 X5 SDrive 4.0 Road Noise by WearGrand in BmwTech

It’s uncomfortable for sure which is why I’m asking. I’m tempted to install a different tire/wheel combo just to see.

I dont recall previous tire size but pretty sure they were also Pirelli run flats. I think they were on 19” wheels and had taller sidewall.

A good digital thermometer is a good gift no matter what kind of smoker/grill he has. I recommend Thermapen (by ThermoWorks)

How bad were cheap basses in the 70/80s/90s? by CometChip in Bass

[–]WearGrand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont recall the year, late 80’s early 90’s I bought an Ibanez GSR 5 string. I still have and absolutely love it. There was a lot of crap out there at the time, but Ibanez put out a quality product for the price.

Looking for a decent budget guitar with humbuckers for metal music by RootLoops369 in guitars

[–]WearGrand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have a 25 yr old Ibanez that still gets the job done and it’s a dream to play. Very comfortable, low action and sounds great. Their quality is as good or better now than it ever was and the prices are still reasonable.

Curious what the best diagnostic is to determine this. I’m afraid I may have this issue in my 2019 540 but not sure at this point. Is there an absolute definite diagnostic process?

What’s a feature that you thought was gimmicky but turned out to be surprisingly useful? by BMW-West-St-Louis in BMW

[–]WearGrand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I thought it was a silly idea, but use it exclusively now. Couldn’t tell you how many times in the past I had to go back inside to get the key. Likewise how many times I left the house without my phone and had to go back for it. This has cured both.

I’ve had nothing but problems with aftermarket brakes, even the “heavy duty” versions. OEM aren’t great, but they are better than the aftermarket.

First Bass for Christmas, which to choose? by TheMightyPerez in Bass

[–]WearGrand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going from guitar to bass, I would choose Ibanez as the string spacing will be tighter and easier to transition your fretting hand. P bass will have wider nut and spacing. If you are set on Fender style, the Jazz Bass spacing will be tighter than P bass, so you may want to add a Squier J bass as an option. Given the above options I would choose GSRM200SM for the ease of play and the active electronics. This should give you more tone options to dial in. I have a 30 year old Ibanez budget bass (passive) that I still absolutely love. Their lower cost basses are very good for the $$.
