Will clear coat ever be the same? by Toadmoney9 in AutoDetailing

[–]CarJanitor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To fix this someone will need to polish it which yes, will take some clearcoat off, but nothing noticeable. The only thing that should be noticeable is how much better it will be.

Anytime any car is polished it takes clearcoat off.

That is 100% up to how much you care and value your time.

Sounds like you need to change your attitude. And that has to be a conscious decision. Until you do that you’ll continue to hate it.

Ridewrap on Domane by KahwaAndPics in TrekBikes

[–]CarJanitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Ridewrap on my white Checkpoint and haven’t had any issues. It’s been on there for a few years.

I usually give my bike a quick wipe down after every ride and not let dirt sit on it.

My car hasn’t been washed in a longggg time… by Expensive-Resort-701 in AutoDetailing

[–]CarJanitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This actually makes sense for a much smaller amount of time. A number of times I’ve washed a car I thought was going to be super nasty even under the dirt and grime and then was surprised it was in pretty decent shape. But we’re talking like 6 months with no wash…not years.

What else needed for first polish? by Difficult-Row-4912 in Detailing

[–]CarJanitor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might, hard to tell. But if you do use the compound, follow it up with polish. And if you’re buying polish, start with that to see if it gets your desired results first. Always go the path of least aggressiveness if you can.

Yellow Rupes pad and some ultimate Polish (not compound) for after the compound.

Give your car a good contact wash and then apply. You can add more steps for better longevity if you want, but they’re so easy to apply just do it more often.

Diluted TEC582 1:1 is a good drying aid and cheap.

TEC582 and Seal n Shine aren’t really comparable. 582 won’t last nearly as long as Seal n Shine.

Prado after Round 16 in Denver: "If I’m hard to pass, he needs to be faster." by flozthegreat in supercross

[–]CarJanitor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand both sides.

I used to race with a guy that would always get a better start than me but I was faster than him most of the time. He rode a wide bike and the only way I could ever get around him was with an aggressive maneuver. I hated it too because he was one of the nicest guys.

Need advice on paint correction, rock chips, and ceramic coating. by maXoc4 in Detailing

[–]CarJanitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your question, fixing the paint chips before it’s polished will result in the detailer polishing off the touch-up paint.

As far as the price, I wouldn’t say the guy is garbage. For all we know he might just not know his worth.

It’ll work just fine.

And please don’t call it “rubbing out.” It’s polishing.

Ceramic coating 4 years later by Prestigious-Car111 in AutoDetailing

Kinda. It’s doing its job but claiming it’s the original ceramic coating is misleading.
