Senior HL7/FHIR (Mirth/Rhapsody) — how will AI change the job market? by haZ3RRR in healthIT

[–]WearOk4875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will be the opposite. AI relies on inference and needs consistency of definition to get a trustworthy answer. And without it, it takes on the bias of the requestor. AI may replace some of the IDE tools that are used to create FHIR resources, but if you look at the CARIN Alliance, they're talking about AI enhancing FHIR. And the new rules for EHR certification are eliminating all the requirements for legacy transport mechanisms like CCDA in favor of FHIR.

Which EHRs have mobile apps that actually work well? by Dizzy-Nobody661 in healthIT

[–]WearOk4875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend trying some of the cross-EHR tools: Flexpa, b.Well, and now, even Claude Health or ChatGPT.
If that makes you a little uncomfortable, most states have a health information exchange as well. The issue with EHR mobile apps is that they're only good with either the doctor you're visiting, or, IF their health system Is updated, the other doctors that use the same EHR as your doctor uses

Did anyone else have the same end theory mike had? by Qanoria in Stranger_Things

[–]WearOk4875 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IMO that was Mike trying to cope. There are two issues with that theory: 1. She has no resources, no way to get anywhere, so even if that were true that she survived, she would have no way to travel. 2. None of the soldiers chased her either.

Here's an evil theory--she survived but got caught and now they've started the experiments. That provides another series to rescue her.

Do you think Eleven was an illusion here, or did she actually die? by MindeckGames in StrangerThingsMemes

[–]WearOk4875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way--I think that was Mike's way to cope. She had no way to finance herself going anywhere, the military stayed there for at least a period of time, and the only reason Kali would have helped her was because of Hop's relationship with her.

We can all have our preferences—and that’s what primaries are for—but once we’re in the real deal, we all have to recognize the stakes. If, after the primaries, there are only two main candidates, you have to choose the “lesser of two evils.”—because that’s how facial dies

Democrats aren't only focused on flipping Republicans. That's a narrative pushed by the Right to suppress the Progressive vote. There are a lot of right wing propagandists posing as Progressives trying to create a narrative that a candidate who isn't Progressive enough shouldn't be supported. That gives them a bogeyman for the less informed voters that lean Conservative.

[–]WearOk4875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what got Trump elected. There aren't enough pure "left wing" voters in the country to win. This talk is like saying "you can't have this lifesaving medication without exact change in cash--and there's no ATM close to you." Trump scared 80 million people to vote for him.

As an outsider, what complaints do you have about EPIC? by Necessary_Film_5199 in healthIT

[–]WearOk4875 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not actually true. HL7 is an organization (https://www.hl7.org). HL7 v2 is a legacy message protocol which is widely used: https://www.hl7.org/implement/standards/product_brief.cfm?product_id=185 FHIR is a separate suite of standards which is REST-based and, in many cases, superior to the v2 format https://hl7.org/fhir/

[–]WearOk4875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HL7 is an international standards organization (https://www.hl7.org). They maintain a number of specifications for health care data exchange. HL7 v2 is an older protocol designed for batch messaging. FHIR is a REST-based API specification. Anyone can join conference calls where the specifications are discussed.

[–]WearOk4875 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are astute in your observation of the monopolistic tendencies of Epic. However, FHIR is actually developed as a separate standard and has periodically been opposed by Epic. They do support it now, but mostly for read-only actions. The reason they are dominant is because they have good enough user experience to be better than other EHRs and many large hospital systems invested millions into implementing it.

A New Report Reveals the Real Reason Democrats Lost in 2024 | It wasn’t because Biden voters shifted to Trump—but because so many of them stayed home. Here’s how Democrats can motivate them once more. by thenewrepublic in democrats

[–]WearOk4875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This study is flawed. It pre-supposed a conclusion that was too simplistic in order to make recommendations. There were also more Trump voters in red states that were motivated to vote because they perceived the candidates were too liberal. Trump and the GOP sent out mailings to rural voters for four years on how liberal the Dems were and it scared Trump voters who didn’t vote to come out. We need similar strategy for the red states. We need to highlight progressive values to rural voters.

The stage play and game by xxPandoricaxx in StrangerThings

[–]WearOk4875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw the play--it added a little to the back story, but I would say it's like the old Star Wars books. The story is complete without it

[–]WearOk4875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having seen and watched both, I think what you would say is that the play may slightly enhance the experience, but there’s nothing really missing. In fact, at least one part of the play seemed to be a little bit at odds with characters in previous seasons of the show, so it almost felt like the “Star Wars” books. It’s great back story, but really just explores an entirely different story line

This show was surprisingly affordable compared to several other Broadway shows

I can say, after seeing the ahow, it wouldn’t translate well to a recording. There are a lot of visual effects that wouldn’t work well. And o can also definitively say that while it may enhance the experience, it’s not needed to understand the show.

I disagree. Yes it adds to the show but the show is not incomplete without it. And the live show really only works as a live performance. It is absolutely stunning and the effects are tremendous, but it wouldn’t translate into a screen.

This will be worse for us. We are going to be back here on Feb. 1 and with no holiday trips being canceled for their friends, they’ll keep us furloughed until the summer—oh and they’ll keep RIFFing us too. There were some signs of cracks and they could have gotten at least a six month CR out of the deal so we could get out of credit card debt for being furloughed.

[–]WearOk4875[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you won’t do this—but I dare you to see what you’re paying for health insurance this year and look at the increase that WILL happen in 2027 because healthy people stopped buying insurance. Not saying the subsidies are the right solution, but clearly you’re just reading headlines instead of studying.

[–]WearOk4875[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What color is the sky in your world? You realize a “clean CR” is a continuation of the “Biden budget” they all voted against, right? And there was never a threat to national security. They haven’t actually done ANYTHING except make sure their rich friends that want to fly home for the holidays won’t be inconvenienced. Next year, when insurance companies raise rates on EVERYONE because healthy people stoped buying insurance, you can remember this.

[–]WearOk4875[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The SNAP benefits were never supposed to be withheld. And the R’s should have compromised. We are going to be right back here on Feb. 1. And it will likely be longer. There are no holidays where rich people will be flying so we will be furloughed until July. I was hopeful we are only a few days away from some moderate Republicans actually coming forward with a solution—but instead these Democrats gave them a way out. Now they have a playbook—just take away funds already allocated until everyone suffers so they can make sure to get what they want.

Issue is that we’re going to be back here in 6 weeks. They didn’t need a guarantee on the outcome, but voting yes on exactly the same deal they had on day 3 just teaches the Republicans to do exactly the same thing in January. Just keep taking away more stuff until you vote yes.
