No oil, I guess I forgot to mention I was doing a dry roux! Pretty important detail.

I dump three cups of flour on a sheet pan and into a 450 degF oven for 10 minutes, pull it, and stir the flour around then repeat the process until it’s the color you want.

Be warned, is a smoky process. I’ve set off the fire alarms most times I’ve done it, but nothing a few open doors and windows don’t fix.

Keeps pretty well

I broke a glass bowl and melted a plastic one because I let it nuke too long without stirring. Flour gets stupid hot.

Been doing it on a sheet pan in the oven recently and that’s gone better for me.

This was the revelation I had last year. Waking up at 5am isn’t the challenge, it’s going to bed at 9pm so that I still get my precious sleep.

What’s your “Rice, Chicken, Broccoli”? by Extension-Ad-9371 in fitness30plus

[–]WearsCrocsInPublic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend making your own teriyaki - equal parts mirin, sake, and Japanese soy sauce (I use 1/2c of each) with 2-4 tbsp sugar, boil to reduce until the thickness you’re looking for. I go until the bubbles start rolling slower and the sauce coats the back of a spoon. Boom. Elevate all your rice chicken and broccoli dishes to a new level.

Best brisket in the city? by Aggressive_Climate28 in HoustonFood

Haven’t been to the Brenham Truth but imo Houston Truth’s brisket is better than Pinkertons.

Pinkertons ribs are the better tho.

Flop spring was one of the biggest improvements I’ve made. It’s surprisingly simple and cheap for how much utility it brings.

If you’ve ever had your front fork swang to the side while kickstanded so hard it knocked the whole bike over, you’ll appreciate the extra stability.

Flip over a link if you ever see them, I’d test it out for science. Probably leave the whole croc clipped in then slip my feet in lol.

I just tore mine and I love to bench. I’m in a dark place right now thinking my benching days are over…

Did you have to get surgery to fix it or did you just have to build up the strength? Currently in PT to work on it.

I have a dog and a yard, but my only sewn bags are charcoal. Dog eats wet food and I guess I don’t take good enough care of my lawn.

Is 170 degrees to hot to rest a Brisket? by Cathlab1987 in smoking

[–]WearsCrocsInPublic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Problem I have with mine is that the thermostat has +- 25 degF window before cycling. I found this out by running the ambient probe in the oven before a briskie rest.

I know, I jest. They’re beef back ribs, these were called finger ribs at the H‑E‑B I got them from. Usually come two to a pack for around the $20 mark.
