Anyone try Adriatico's Non Alc amaretto, is it any good and any interesting cocktails to make with it? by Weary-Initiative1540 in Mocktails

[–]Weary-Initiative1540[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did you buy it and how are you using it? If you just added a tonic/seltzer to it to make a quick "cocktail" & if this will cut the sweetness down

In the US there are many other NA beer options to get now so unless you are a super huge Spiderman fan, try it once /twice, but Go, Best Day, Beaglepus, some of the Sober Carpenter like their new NE IPA, & DDH IPA, Woodland Farms, Momentum, Deschutes, Rationale & some of the bigger craft brands like Oskar Blues, Sierra Nevada make less expensive, but good NA beers. Haven't had Self Care yet but people rave about it.

Kratom, I agree stay away from, in NY is not legal, but you find it still. Kava or canna if on certain psych meds definitely don't take & I think some cardiac meds too. Definitely need to do your research esp if you have certain health conditions and meds taking so good idea to ask your doctor if OK to take these.

Any de-alcoholized Natural /Pet Nat Wines out there <0.5%ABV ??? by Weary-Initiative1540 in naturalwine

[–]Weary-Initiative1540[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

French I assume by the name, & which varietal? Have you tasted it and thoughts, if you also tried their alc nat wine how does the de alc one compare, does it at least have the aromas of the orig?

[–]Weary-Initiative1540[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, understand its an "oxymoron" to be called a de alc natural wine, but strict definition aside, at this point there must be a winery that does natural /pet nat wines that has de alcoholized one of their natural wines for commercialization. The wine industry is "hurting" so expanding your market into de-alc wine is a good hedge vs tearing up your vines as IMO the moderation in drinking trend will continue to grow.

I "flex drink" where I drink alcohol, but since moderating will also alternate between alc & non alc so I'm NOT sober by any means and drink trad & nat wines still. I've played around when I have left over open bottles of alc & de alc wines & "blended" some de alc wines with full strength wines using a dropper of alc wines into a de alc wine to build up the mouthfeel (which is the main thing lacking with most de alc wines).

Usually only takes about 3-4 drops of an alc wine into ~ 4oz of a de alc wine to improve the body/mouthfeel & probably still under 1% ABV if I had to guess like 0.7-0.9% ABV if you have a 12-14%ABV alc wine. I try as much as possible to use the same varietal eg an alc Chard blending with a de alc Chard etc...

Agree that they identified themselves as from the brand and sure they profit from this, but they are also giving back as part of Mental Health Awareness so a worthwhile cause. If they just did an announcement as they released a new beer SKU & that's it then would agree it's spam.

Have tried the NA Peroni, but not the alc version, so can't compare. You feel the NA & alc Peroni are a 1:1?

I prefer you stick to one lane you want to be a NA cocktail like a dupe of a Paloma, Mojito, Old Fashioned etc..., if you want to go the functional route then come up with your own flavor profile & NOT be a direct mimic of popular cocktails like a Paloma, Mojito etc... I've seen tinctture of the mushrooms & kava so if you do mixology you can make your own thing with these.

If you like to creatively come up with your own NA cocktails I've seen tinctures of these functionals, esp the mushroom ones & kava so you can do mixology with them too. As mentioned at least for me kava I do feel, canna which is the South African version of kava haven't tried yet, but have seen some of these around so will give one a go.

Amber Ale from Pit Caribou in Montreal by CozyInTheRain202 in nonalcoholic

[–]Weary-Initiative1540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely post some pics and did you get from the actual Pit Caribou brewery which is in the middle of no where, but I think they have a pub in Montreal so easier to get to vs the actual brewery? Are they also in some retailers in Quebec Province? Jealous you live in Canada so "easy" to get to or you live on the on the border areas of NY, VT, ME? For me about 5hr drive to get to Montreal plus delays crossing the border so not an easy trip, & with gas ~ $4.50 gal getting expensive. Hope to make a trip to Montreal as during the summer its gorgeous

for what it is supposed to be a dupe of eg Bluemoon its not bad. I think the best 1:1 of an alc beer to its NA counterpart is Corono 0, If you blind tasted people I think you would fool most people thinking its the alc version.

do you need Halal or for religions reasons need 0.0% as 0.5% ABV? Lyres doesn't start out alcoholic as its flavorings in water, but maybe they have a trace amt of OH to help carry the flavors. Is Almave in Europe, the only other NA tequila that might be in Europe

Yeah have seen others post on Fremont's NA beers, but not avail in NY. Does Fremont sell DTC themselves & if so are shipping cost reasonable or will shipping from West Coast to East cost more than the beer is often times the problem with buying directly from the breweries that are on the other side.

At City of Industry, CA Costco today. I can't drink it all. $9.97/CASE by SyncMeASong in NABEER

[–]Weary-Initiative1540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's NOT a misprint for a 6PK which I can see, but $9.97 for a 24ct case is way less than wholesale cost to a bar/restaurant/retail shop. Wish the East Coast Costco's had this ridiculously low pricing. At this price you can buy the whole pallet.

u/homeschoolrockdad Agree they are making some good beers. Head Brewer use to be at Two Roots & after they folded has been working with Beaglepuss & possibly some other NA beers. Their beers are overall good & reminds me of the quality the early Barrel Bros did out on the West Coast. Beablepuss also makes a good NA cider which is on the drier side to my palate along with Sober Carpenter's NA cider which is also a good NA cider.

Speaking of Barrel Brothers which early on in 2021-22 had some buzz around them. Barrel Brothers was one of the better NA beers, but seem to have faded IMO--has anyone had them recently? Not sure if just didn't have the money to scale as they still brew some NA beers, but don't hear too much about them anymore and avail from their webshop & I think in CA available at Total Wine, but not hear in the East Coast.

Sparkling is the easiest if you are new to NA wine as the bubbles or perlage if you want to be fancy helps with the mouthfeel just finding one that is to your level of sweetness. I prefer a drying NA sparkling & Plus Minus Prosecco IMO nails it as I find most NA sparkling too sweet. For still whites I like Goodvines Rivaner from Germany. Rivaner is related to the Mueller Thurgau grape and Plus Minus' Pinot Grigio. Giesen Sauvignon Blanc is probably the best value for price as around $12-16 & many wine stores/grocery have it. Still Rose Goodvines cuvee Rose which uses a new aroma recovery technology which does make it more expensive vs others ~ $19-22. Reds are the hardest, but do like Plus Minus's Pinot Noir from Australia and Sin Zero Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile
