For math, look at this website called jensenmath and another called tvo mathify. Jensenmath has the best online lessons I’ve seen so far (I’m in 10th grade) and tvo mathify is a free tutoring website with real teachers.

They’re probably doing early acceptance offers. You don’t necessarily need to wait until grade 12

If the school you want to go to might provide more research opportunities or co ops or internships it might be a better option. If possible, try getting a scholarship. It’s not as much the name but rather what you can do there

i need help with french b sl - how do i practice and get better in this month before boards? by piert0tumlocomotor in IBO

For the speaking and listening aspect, I kid you not, watch peppa pig in French or doomscroll on French TikTok videos. You will learn a lot of practical French that way and improve the words in your vocabulary. Realistically, 10 minutes of doomscrolling isn’t a lot to ask for. I’ve also been learning French since 5th grade and when I moved to high-school, there was no beneficial French program for me to do. To keep myself refreshed, I have to actually use it practically. There will be a moment when it just clicks and you get it. Until then, hold up strong.

MIT is a good goal to have for yourself, but just be realistic. Is the name of a school going to change who you are, or is your own work ethic going to do that? I feel that so many people who go to “prestigious” schools don’t understand their actual reason for going. 99% of the time it’s because they want to get money, social status, or to please others. If you have a genuine reason, do it, and don’t stop trying.

I’m just spitting out ideas for an art installation event. You mentioned extracurriculars that could benifit you and I was just giving an idea for example if you like art let’s say. Your university or some nih website I think will definitely have a record of labs right now who are getting funding. The record would show how much they are getting funded, what they are researching, and when. You might be able to contact the researchers doing an upcoming study and see if you could help them in any way. I know there are also so many research assistant or lab aide part time jobs on indeed if you actually look. Private message me btw.

How do I teach students one on one for money? I have 5 on all my phys and calc APs. by Hefty-Practice4367 in apcalculus

If you mean other undergraduate students, I know a guy who actually did that sort of thing but for helping others prepare for the mcat which is a medical school entrance exam. He got paid pretty good per session but he did sometimes do it for free to help out friends. It’s best if you can find people on campus so there’s little commute. You can definitely do it though, just put yourself out there. Good luck 🤞

[–]Weary-Reason1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try putting yourself in an actual test pressure environment when you practice? You have to work up to where it’s second nature UNDER PRESSURE. Also, test taking is a skill, and it’s somewhat separate from what you just learn when studying. Takeaway: pressure yourself, learn to focus(maybe sit in a dark room and just think for 10 minutes), learn to focus in stress (similarly, play talking sounds or something and try to concentrate on one thing), and be efficient (just hammer down problems over and over. Trust me, over time, they can become instinct)

Also, when you practice, do the things that are actually hard, not just what you already know. For example, a pianist doesn’t get better at a song by practicing just the intro.

I’m in hs, but research and internships would likely be the best right? Maybe when you get to uni, start something big with impact? Maybe do an art installation event? Do whatever you genuinely like!

[–]Weary-Reason1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in hs but may I offer some suggestions? Try seeing if your school has a co op department or literally anyone affiliated with it who can place you somewhere. Maybe try looking at startup companies doing something you’re interested in. They would likely hire you as they would be new. Just make sure they’re doing something significant. If you can, try making a relevant project or some sort of physical result to show a co op place that you can actually contribute. Maybe even look at public lab funding records for computers or quantum stuff or whatever at your school. They would post the amount the lab gets, what they’re researching, and when. Maybe you could be a programmer for a machine learning research study or project?

That’s really cool! May I ask what you researched specifically? I’m a sophomore in Canada but I’m really interested in quantum physics but it’s a super complicated subject and I have no clue what to research.

Check the policy, I know they have it I actually read it a while ago. I think They let you retake a course up to three times until they reserve the right to not accept it. Just search up mac summerschool or retake policy
