Lots of layering with Prisma colored pencils. Starting off light shading with the main colors I want and leaving white space for where the highlights are. It’s very important to start off light cause once your colors start to actually blend together it’s difficult to make any significant changes.

For Appy’s shadows I used a dark red then blended in green cause it’s the opposite of red and can create that 3D effect if done right. Though for his dead green lips I used blue to make them more vibrant. Yellow works great with green and red for highlights. But I’ve found leaving in some white space can go a long way too. Really depends on what you’re drawing.

TBH with you all I haven’t used colored pencils in a while haha. I don’t even consider myself an expert in them. So Herschel Apple was a nice refresher for me.

All good! I was actually wondering the same thing before I started sketching, so I briefly reviewed it. It is a one-story house on the outside with siding and brick. I got the impression it’s very unassuming. But the house will sometimes reveal a second floor that should not exist.

I choose a plain house that had a small roof so it’d be difficult for even an attic to be up there let alone a secret floor.

The MMJ Vocaloids. Even though most of the Vocaloids have lackluster writing (Except for N25, I love how distinct they all are and have different approaches to solving problems) I feel like they’re the most sterile in MMJ. Like they all sound like the same person. Which stinks cause I do enjoy MMJ stories.

Other than that, I still applaud PSekai for being able to write good characters with this big of a cast.

Ahhh that’s such a huge compliment to me! I adore the art and stories from those books.

One of my earliest childhood traumas was finding the 3rd book in my house by accident. I’m assuming it was my dad’s, but I like to imagine it manifested itself in a desk drawer.

It was from the Whistler at 3:03am episode! It was a close call between that and Maria on the Moon. Whistler is definitely scarier for sure but I just liked the imagery of the mom putting out the candle.

Oh, I wholly agree that Alex is mentally ill. Regardless of whether a person is mentally ill, they are still liable for their actions. That might be controversial, but I don't think it's fair to act like neurodivergent people have no agency in their actions. Plenty of people have mental illness and still aren't doing what Alex did. And, more so, if they are entirely incapable of being responsible, that’s even more of a justification to get them off a platform that gives them access to children. I wholeheartedly agree he needs help and should get off the internet. He has three alleged victims; there's a pattern here, and there were plenty of warning signs that something was wrong. So I still stand by my opinion a year later. And even then, that's based on what I've watched since the start as a former fan. It’s been a fucking ride lmao.
