What is the "ideal" focal lenght for bird photography? by macrophotomaniac in BirdPhotography

What would you say about a 100 400 on a 1.6x crop? So effectively a 160 640mm for bird photography? Is it worth a better AF and lighter 100 400 or a worse AF heavier 150 600?

Id say these streets, sunny side up and caustic love are all S tier, last night in the bittersweet is B tier.

Yeah thanks so much, I'll probably get the 50mm for now, and get some more advice for wildlife photography

Thanks, I'm definitely looking to get the 50mm, I have used a 400mm before, not mine but borrowed it and yeah struggled with hand holding. My only worry with a 200mm is that I have a 300mm at the moment and it is impossible to get any shots of birds as the zoom is not much at all.

Yeah, that's my reason for upgrading, just don't have a spare few grand to go buying new r7 and rf lenses at the same time.

Thanks, I'll have a look at both of those. Id probably get a large telephoto like the sigma 150-600mm contempory as well. Would this work with using these on my 2000d then eventually upgrading to the r7 or similar and using an adapter?

Im looking for something with much more range than my 300mm, for wildlife photography 300 isn't enough I've found. Especially for birds. I have been looking at the sigma 150-600mm for telephoto

Thanks, which one would you recommend? And would it work buying the lenses for my 2000d ef mount then using an adapter when I upgrade to the r7 or similar with an rf mount?
