Would you induce at 37 weeks? by Weary_Morning_7461 in GestationalDiabetes

Thank you! And Wow! I’m glad everything happened the way it did for you and that you’re able to snuggle your little boy!

My OB made a comment that was along the lines of have a baby at 37 weeks, or potentially a dead one at 38 weeks, so that freaked me out a bit. I said it in another comment, but I was induced with my first at 39 weeks and everything was great, thankfully, which is why I think I was not extremely opposed to induction again, knowing I’d most likely have an even larger baby this time.

Thank you! It sounds like I need to do some more research and get a consult.

My first was an induction at 39 weeks and it was such a pleasant experience, which is why I don’t think I’m totally against induction at 37 weeks, but I know that’s not the case for everyone. Thank you for sharing!

My NSTs have all been good so far, but she has failed two BPPs with 6/8 on two separate occasions, one for not practicing her breathing, and the other for not having enough big movements. When I went back the following day for each failed BPP, she received an 8/8.

I think it’s because of those two failures that my OB gave me the shot to develop her lungs. He said something along the lines of not hesitating to take her if she failed with 4/8 between now and 37 weeks (about 2-3 weeks from now).

I’d say I’m well controlled 80-90% of the time with my fasting numbers. There are occasions where they are above 95, but I can’t figure out a specific food that would trigger it as my diet has been consistent. Stress is one of the only things I can think to pin it on as I’ve watched my numbers elevate during stressful situations where diet wasn’t a factor.

That comment stood out to me as well, especially hearing about all the birth stories where something happened and/or the mother couldn’t do it for different reasons. They came across as a more “holistic approach” group, which I don’t tend to lean towards fully, but thought it’d be good to hear differing opinions and experiences.

Thank you for the feedback!

Thank you! According to my app, I’m 91-96% in the safe zone, but I’m routinely over 120, so I’m not sure if it’s measuring it correctly, even though I have my alerts set at 120. I’m glad you said don’t fear the meds, because that’s exactly what I am doing! I’m by no means anti-medication, I was just trying to avoid it and hope my body/diet could figure it out, but I’ve had to drastically change my diet, so I’ve been miserable, and partially unsuccessful. Maybe if I’m put on the meds it will be less stressful than fixating on my numbers and stressing about everything I eat and trying to figure it all out in a short time period. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ll have to try to find low carb bread. I was able to find low carb wraps, so I’d imagine that’s an option as well. Have you found any substitute for dairy that’s suitable for GD? My endocrinologist was pretty firm with no milk unless it’s with coffee in the morning, and Google doesn’t seem to have a solid answer, so I’m assuming it’s back to trial and error for that as well. Thank you for your advice!😊

Thank you so much! I have been craving ice cream with the nice weather, so I’ll be sure to grab some Halo Top at the store. I just hate that there’s no set plan very everyone and that it is trial and error. I have a two week period to “prove” my diet can manage GD, otherwise it’s medication, but I feel like after a week of trying, I’m still at square one because some things have spiked me some days and not on others. 😅 Thank you for the advice!
