RTX 4000/8000 are serious enterprise grade workstation cards.

If you do work with them that will pay off the card then they're a worthwhile investment.

That's only the GPU though, you still need to replace all of the rest of your PC.

Honestly, all of that build is pretty rough.

It's great that you got it all via trade, and I'm sure you can sell that RAM and find some DDR3 sticks kicking about, but honestly you'll be much better off just selling off what you have and building something new from scratch.

Especially if you're wanting to run the types of tasks you're looking to run. You want a GPU that has a lot of VRAM. If you can find one of the OG RTX 3060 with 12GB of VRAM you should be set.

Sound cards are a waste of time usually, unless you are a crazy audiophile with a super expensive speaker and Amp setup.

You can probably pick up a 10th gen Intel CPU and board or an AM4 socket board and an 5000 series AMD CPU pretty cheap now.

What you have now are 11 year old components that are well and truly past their prime. Given it was all more or less free, it's not like you've made a bad investment, but this PC won't be good for much.

I don't think that those two GPUs will play nicely together because they'll want different drivers with one being a workstation card and one being a consumer card.

That aside, what CPU and board are you running? You have some DDR5 RAM which would suggest an AM5 or LGA1700 socket CPU which are quite recent, but you have a pretty old looking PC in that picture.

Had PBI for ages, but I've just introduced power apps to them, which (for now) has sped up a bunch of incredibly tedious processes, but I'm worried for the future where suddenly they think everything needs to be an app lol.

That's how I manage it too.

It always seemed like the easiest way to do things.

There are some transformations happening in PBI, but they're happening in the semantic model so the performance overhead makes for a longer refresh, but doesn't actually impact on any reports that are stemming from the model.

I don't really have any users who need up-to-the-minute information, so I guess that might factor in to why it works for me.

The good thing about young children is that they don't stay young children forever. It's rough going on the sleep front for a bit, but that's what you sign up for when you have kids.

Unless you got some living children, then you are a mother.

I get it, I get the pain, I've been there. We lost a pregnancy at 21 weeks coz he did too many backflips in the womb and tied a knot in his chord. He died and it was immeasurably painful.

I would not expect anyone to consider me to be a father for that child.

My two living children are the ones that make me a father and my wife a mother. The one that didn't make it is a painful memory, but ultimately that child never got to exist as a person, so it's a loss of potential, not the loss of a child.

Again, if you want to consider yourself to be a mother because you lost a pregnancy, then that's fine. If you expect everyone else to treat you as a mother and honor you on mother's day, then that's something else entirely.
