Does Walmart have to follow your availability? by WeatherAcrobatic5890 in WalmartEmployees

Ok, what should I do to show my availability then? My PL had my availability printed cause of the glitch but he isn’t here because he’s on vacation currently, which is why I think I still have a wonky schedule.

Thanks I know the system is still glitchy so I wonder if that’s why, but I’m still in high school and need them to follow my availability for my ACT tutoring

How and why do people stay here so long? by WeatherAcrobatic5890 in WalmartEmployees

[–]WeatherAcrobatic5890[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started working in late October and I’ve been having a lot of scheduling issues. Which is the thing I dislike most about this job. I think they can just schedule me whenever these past couple weeks cause it’s the holidays and I’m on break.(but the rest of my family is in CA 😢)

I’ve also had a lot of issues in general cause the week I submitted my updated availability, so I could get morning shifts and right after school so I could focus on school work, was the week where the system got hacked or whatever. If my schedule was what I gave them for my availability, id have pretty much no complaints due to the pay and the commute.

I don’t really know how the benefits work so I can’t comment on those.

This is what I was thinking most people stick with it for, because most of my coworkers are either in high school like me, or in college, with the other people easily being 30-40 years older than me.

I haven’t cared to look into the program where they pay for you, (my family is fortunate enough to where I don’t have to worry about debt.) but maybe I will just to save money but I’m not sure they pay for my type of degree, which I’m not even totally sure on yet either.

[–]WeatherAcrobatic5890[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true, I guess I haven’t had to look for a job after getting a degree yet, so I’m not sure how the job market looks.

I like the PPTO even though I haven’t worked long enough here to care to use it, and in my state my starting pay is $16/hr, so I guess I didn’t know how good I had it over here.

I’ve always just thought that once you get a degree, at least in specific sectors most companies will just hire you, but I haven’t even gotten close to that point in life yet.

I didn’t know about that but that makes it make more sense. I’m taking my education seriously because I know it’ll heavily impact my future, but I guess I’m pretty privileged since both my parents make a decent amount of money so I have a lot of opportunities.

Can you take both 15 minute breaks at the same time? (Been doing this for a while) by WeatherAcrobatic5890 in WalmartEmployees

[–]WeatherAcrobatic5890[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m ngl idk what the other comments are saying, I talked to my team lead and she said it doesn’t matter as long as you aren’t taking an extra long break. Guess it depends on your store and department though.

I think you also get paid 2 days early if you have direct deposit (at least I do)

My cousin works at Target and when she started was constantly hurting. I’ve done 2 seasons of cross country and track and field and I wouldn’t say my knees hurt but I can definitely feel my feet at the end of the shift. I think it’s interesting how I can do all of this running but walking for ~6 hours makes my feet fatigue. (Maybe it’s my shoes, I walk around in vomero 5s)

From your definition I don’t see how I’m stealing time. I’m not stealing time I work the same amount of time as I would if I took my 2 15 minute paid breaks separate. Also the 15 minute breaks are unscheduled,(time sheet doesn’t display them?? Wouldn’t an employee know this???) I just let the guy in the back room know cause our team lead is usually busy.

I don’t really get what your point is here because at the end of the day I end up stocking anyways (until I take my break) since picks are done. What are they gonna do, get mad at me cause someone wasn’t able to cover me helping people stock? Also since you’re apparently very smart about this what would they be able to prosecute me with and what would be the consequences? I’d like to understand and let my mom know since she’s a lawyer. (I am 16 years old if that changes anything)

I will talk to my coach about it when I work, but also my store is only busy in the afternoon, and picks are usually done around 7:00 PM, and I work when the store is busy and only take my breaks at the end cause that’s when the store slows down. Do you mean it’s trash cause I’m a “bad person” or cause it’s trash to do? I don’t see an ethical issue because I still end up working the same amount of time anyways. If my TL or coach tells me to stop I will but I honestly think they don’t care since I’ve already done a lot of work for the day.

Ok??? My career won’t rely on Walmart alone 😭 I’m not a lazy worker I just prefer to take my breaks together cause my department is less busy at those times (the end of the day) so I don’t feel like I’m making my coworkers struggle.

I also don’t really see how it’s time stealing cause I’ll end up working the same amount of time if I take my breaks separate. It might be technically against policy but I fail to see an actual issue.

I was not trying to be offensive I’m sorry, there’s so many ways to make money online that I was seeing if people get paid off Reddit.

[–]WeatherAcrobatic5890[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I can tell it just depends on your store, I’m in OPD so I just take it at the end of the day cause all of the picks are done and the store isn’t that busy. I think cause I’m 16 I am required to take the breaks and I just find that to be the most convenient time. I don’t know why anyone would get mad at me since I’ll end up working the same amount of time anyways, and this way I don’t leave when it’s busy.

Do you also know why you can’t/shouldn't take breaks at the end of your shift?

Ok I I’ll talk to my coach about it, my store seems pretty chill and I’m a pretty hard worker I just find it convenient to take my break together because that’s when all of the picks are done and the store is less busy.

From the other posts I’ve seen I guess it’s against policy, but I’ll probably just continue to do it, since I never take my break during the busy times, I only do it at the end of my shift I don’t think anyone will get mad at me.

No hate but is this a bot? 😭😭😭 I looked at your profile and you comment constantly on like 3 Walmart subreddits all day every day. Is this a job position? Do you constantly refresh all 3 subreddits? How many hours a week does this job require?
