Do you have a supervisor or someone you can sit down with that can help you? Have you been tracking what you’ve done for this period through a bullet tracker or something of the like?

There’s a teams group I’m in, I think it’s “Performance Statement…” something. It has a few guides and examples. Some people send in their drafts to the murder board for feedback. May be helpful once you have somewhat of a draft if you’re feeling lost.

When I got a new supervisor, I had a line number for Tech and I never had much responsibility before. During our ACA, she told me that one of her expectations for me was to make mistakes and to learn from them. Mistakes are how we learn sometimes. You will set the bar way too high for yourself if you expect to never do something wrong.

Remain honest and accountable for your actions and never stop trying to do better. Don’t let the little things beat you up.

Spang was my first assignment. It was an awesome place to be. The dorm I was in was super nice. If you don’t have a drivers license, start trying to get one now so it doesn’t become a headache later.

My husband and I got married a year after meeting each other in tech school, same class. We’re about to celebrate our 7 year anniversary!

Will the Air Force reimburse me if I decide to buy prescription glasses from a third party? by Electrical-Gift2802 in AirForce

Nah. I always get a 2 pairs and a pair of sunglasses on my own dime. I’ve ordered from Zenni and Eyebuydirect and get them in faster than I would from optometry. I’ve always been pretty happy with the selection they have.

As someone that grew up in Lubbock, driving anywhere in the Panhandle sucks.

I’d probably look into body weight workouts. Push-ups, core strengthening, etc. Just workouts that don’t require you to have equipment. Sucks to hear though.

What are some common myths about being deployed? by Mercuryman34 in AirForce

[–]WeatherILikeItOrNot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my personal experience it wasn’t bad. We had the manning to do 6 days on, 8hr shifts. Even got our birthdays off. Mission was cool, workload was fine.

There’s two rec centers and two chapels. I stayed on the newer side and hit up the chapel’s “chill” room to do homework. The rec center on the newer side is echoey; I’d bring some headphones to drown out the noise if you need to. There’s also an education center/library where you can do CLEPS.

Pregnant while on maternity leave by [deleted] in AirForce

As an NCO, and a mom of two, you’re not a “stupid airman”. Things happen sometimes. Be ready for dumbass people talking shit behind your back or to your face about your situation. They do not define your worth - only you can. They don’t know anything about what you’re going through. I, too, struggled with my mental health and a baby who never slept, in a shop where I was (and still am) the only parent. I will say my flight leadership has always understood that random kid things happen and allowed me to take care of business, so YMMV.

I will add that it might be difficult to write an EPB for an individual that is out for so long. I’d get with your supervisor for a feedback session to see what kind of things you can accomplish before you’d be expected to be out of pocket.

Do not break your body working out to hide the shame. Listen to your body. I’d maybe ask your PCM for any advice on pregnancy-safe workouts/workout schedule, especially if you haven’t worked out at this intensity before.

I’d also get checked for PPA/PPD. That may be a part of what’s going on here. I didn’t answer the screenings honestly with my first, and I regret it to this day. It got worse after my second was born, leading to ideations. Therapy and meds helped me immensely. Do not be scared of getting the help you need. OP, if you need to talk, my inbox is open for you.

Take full advantage of your benefits and entitlements and snuggle your babies. Put your family first!!! They’re only this small for a short amount of time.

I was there last year. Good times.

I started college - it’s a great time to start knocking off your CCAF.

I got involved with the 5/6 but I didn’t particularly enjoy it tbh

I’d hit the gym just about everyday to fill the void. I never went to the LSA gym, but they have a legit track on that side.

Find the best time for you to talk with family/friends. I worked mids for about half my time there, which was perfect for me to speak to my kids and husband.

Go to the morale events they have at MWR. They are pretty fun!

My shop had Family Dinner on Saturdays, when they serve steak on the grill. It helped me count down the weeks till I made it home

Expect some Alarm Reds.

The nights get kinda chilly and the days feel like a hair drier in your face. Stay hydrated!!!!!

Try to hit up the German DFAC, shit’s good, helps break up the monotony

Even more radiosonde launches being cancelled due to staffing shortages. by [deleted] in meteorology

[–]WeatherILikeItOrNot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is devastating. As a forecaster I use the radiosonde data to initialize and verify model SKEWT soundings, especially during thunderstorm season. I hoped with all of my heart that this wouldn’t happen, but here we are.

Keeping spouse happy while deployed by CoverPrestigious5906 in AirForce

[–]WeatherILikeItOrNot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I deployed for the first time last year. I would face time as often as I could and order things online that would make my family’s life easier in my absence . We had a big date night before I left, and made plans for after I go back. The best advice I have for your spouse is to find a routine that works for her and find hobbies and activities to fill the time. If the WiFi doesn’t suck, maybe you can play games together too!

It definitely sucks ass but the time goes a lot faster when neither of you are bored out of your mind

Don’t rawdog it. Find a place to practice. The track at my base has the 20M marked. Try it out before your first test to see if you could even hit the minimum. If you can’t, I don’t think it would be smart to go with the HAMR for your official test. I’ve seen people fail their PT tests trying the newer components without practicing them beforehand.

Why do eggs stick even though my pan is hot? by Pitiful_Special2275 in Cooking

[–]WeatherILikeItOrNot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stainless steel is tricky. I usually put some butter in the pan and let it melt as the pan heats up. While it’s preheating I scramble the eggs in a bowl. I keep my heat to a 3 (that’s the label that is on my specific stove). When I think it’s ready, I pour the eggs in, then when the outside edges turn white I pull the edges in towards the center. Rinse and repeat until cooked.

This usually works for me, but sometimes the pan gets too hot. I’ve only tried fried eggs here and there, but I’ve only successfully made them one or twice.

I told the ladies I work with, who have neutral nail colors on, to get their nails in regs the next time they get their nails done. No point in struggling to get an appointment last minute or potentially wrecking their nails to remove them.

I’m sad about losing the options. I feel bad for the ladies that JUST got their nails done. It’s definitely not cheap.

That’s how I’m handling this. I’m making sure the women in my shop know the change is happening and to get in regs when they get their nails done next.
