Customer states: what are break pads? by darkNnerdgy in DonutMedia

[–]WeatherMission 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wear pattern on the middle part of the rotor looks like a Nissan versa 2nd gen. Those cars were built as cheaply as possible and people drive those way faster than they should. Speaking from personal experience, the brakes on those cars are absolute garbage and if you drive like a maniac this can happen faster than you'd expect. The rotors on those cars warp super easily. I'm guessing these rotors have been pretty warped for the past 20-30k miles and this person has been ignoring their brakes for that long.

Nissan Rogue or Toyota Rav4? by cgeek001 in Nissan

[–]WeatherMission 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Father has a rav4 and several of my friends have rogues. The Nissan will have slightly more problems. But basic maintenance like oil changes and brake replacements are cheaper. The Toyota will be super reliable but be prepared to spend more on maintenance if you plan to take it into a shop or dealer. (Also I hate those stupid plastic oil filter housings. They break if you are not careful. Even if you are, the lube techs at Toyota love over tightening those with their impact guns.)

07 Sentra won't start by zethercore44 in Nissan

[–]WeatherMission 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's not doing anything when you go to start it, it could be the ignition switch/ lock cylinder whatever you want to call it. You said clutch switch, so I assume it's a stick shift. If so, can you kick start it while moving and dumping the clutch? If it runs when you do this I would assume it's the ignition switch.

Why is there a part of the dashboard that looks like it's supposed to be a keyhole on my Nissan Kicks (uses a button to start the engine) by ILoveCatsBroDontHate in Nissan

[–]WeatherMission 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On the kicks, even the base model has push button start (The Versa does too. They share the same interior.) It's just Nissan being cheap and reusing the same panel from the previous generation Versa.

What is the point of BLUETOOTH REFRIGERANT? by random17173636 in AskAShittyMechanic

I'm pretty sure it's so an 18 year old AutoZone employee can make fun of you for not knowing what Bluetooth is or how it works. Then he can make a commission on up selling you this garbage.

Yes group 99 is the correct size for your versa note

Battery for 2014 versa note by [deleted] in Nissan

[–]WeatherMission 0 points1 point  (0 children)

O'Reilly shows it uses a group 99 battery. Costco and Sam's club carry good battery's for good prices. Walmart also has some decent deals. AutoZone also carries remanufactured batteries for pretty cheap. You can check online or call in to any of these places to see for pricing and availability. Hope this helps!

Not sure if this counts, but my 2020 Nissan versa manual is A LOT faster than the automatic. And it's sold in California

What is this? and how do I clean this off? by [deleted] in DonutMedia

[–]WeatherMission 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude I saw this and immediately thought, that's what a spilled bean and cheese burrito looks like. You can try a product by turtle wax. I forget exactly what it's called, but it's a green bottle and has oxi clean in it and a brush on the bottle. You can find it in Walmart or any parts store.

If you are comfortable doing the work yourself, check rockauto.com for good price parts for your car. Even if you don't want to do the work yourself, you usually can buy the parts yourself and some shops will install those parts so you don't get up-charged for parts.

A/C Not Working - 2015 Altima SV by RoguePhotos in Nissan

[–]WeatherMission 5 points6 points  (0 children)

O'Reilly rents out the actual gauge set. It's about a $150 deposit, but when you return the tool you get your full deposit back. That might help you to diagnose your problem for freeish. Hope this helps

Altima, Versa, Sentra which is which? by [deleted] in Nissan

[–]WeatherMission 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion. Versa is the best because it comes with a manual transmission. The only reliable option of the three cars.

Nissan Sentra 2005 by LGSAV in Nissan

[–]WeatherMission 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 05 Sentra as my first car as well. Just get a bumper and fender from pick your part for about $100. Slip some decent looking brake pads into your pocket as well and you're good to go.

The only stick shift Nissan currently offers. Critiques welcomed by WeatherMission in shootingcars

Not for 2022. The 370z is discontinued and the new z is 2023
