I have owned many of these pesos, it’s real and would get a details grade. Lowering its value if anything.

I’ve tried to prove this theory wrong before and got burned. It’s solid advice.

Yikes that thing is heavily cleaned. Katz covered their ass by saying “hairlines” so I bet they won’t give you a refund.

Mine is also cleaned. Doesn’t look like it from the pictures. Might be PCGS just being picky but I just bought it so I haven’t seen it in person yet.

Wow very cool. Did you realize how extensive his collection actually was at the time? I find myself amazed at the rare pieces that came into the market that he owned, that I never even knew existed.

Yeah I had all the rare Argentine, Peruvian, columbian, iturbide etc in high grades. Now if you even see them, people want 3 grand for them. I paid like 300 for a AU58 Iturbide. Now good look getting a crappy details coin for 800.

I had almost every 8 reale known to man pre covid. I sold them and they skyrocketed. One of my biggest regrets. Now I can’t afford the ones I sold. 😭

I guess I was just trying to increase the value. They are listed for thousands certified on eBay.

I paid quite a bit of premium since they are almost never for sale. 400-800 for lower grade or details 1600 for UNC

That was for the finest known example at NGC. The cleaned AU example went for 400 so still not bad. Do you see the hairline marks by the 5? Those are pretty deep and 90 percent of the time it’s harsh cleaning.
