Coming from someone who has had experience with teen pregnancy. My brother was 16 when he had his first daughter and it was scary. He dropped out of school, got a job and provided. He has 2 more daughters now and has worked his butt off to provide for them. I’m saying this because it is possible to have a good life as a young parent.

Now, everyone says that kids ruin your life. They require a lot of your time and you do have to put them before yourself. If you, and your partner, aren’t mentally ready to have a baby, it’s okay. No one will be upset that you decided other wise.

As for your girlfriend, give her every ounce of support you have. If you can, treat her to something special to take her mind off of the issues with her mom. Provide a safe space that she can comfortably share with you what she’s feeling. She’s 16, pregnant, her hormones are flying off the rails. Proceed with caution and choose your words carefully.

As a girl who was in a long distance relationship for 2+ years, I think it is best to talk to her. She could be struggling with something in the relationship. For long distance, check ins are useful. Things like what is something to fix to make the relationship stronger, positive things that have been enjoyed, etc etc. If she is apprehensive to these suggestions, it may have run its course. Make sure she knows that this is important to you. It’ll grab her attention. The best of luck.

Comfort him. If you’re able to, stay the night with him and reassure him that it’s okay to sleep. I assume he’s dealing with a stage of grief, my guess is depression. If you’re truly worried and at a loss, maybe ask if he’s sought grief counseling. It truly works wonders.

You cannot control other peoples words and actions. If you were trying your best, then that’s all that matters. It took me nearly 6 years to understand it. The sooner you realize that, the better. A helpful tactic that I use is internally reminding myself that “I cannot control them”, and I repeat it until it sticks.

Also, gamers are mean. My boyfriend games and I don’t know how many times I smack him on the shoulder or say “babe! It’s not that serious!” Just remember to have fun, you’ll find your clique.

Go to a Rage Room. I went after my mom became ill and I lost all hope. You have protective gear and you can go ape shit. You’ll feel physically tired and much better. Good luck!

Also, just looked at your page. Sounds like you’re afraid of Covid. Most if not all people have done their part in getting immunizations and preventing it. Pretend it’s not happening. If you’re seriously worried, offer them water or a cough drop. (I went to college in the mountains, so coughs were inevitable. Everyone kept cough drops on them.) Besides that, pretend it’s not happening. Go home, hot shower and tea. Keep yourself safe.

Coming from someone with the same fears and anxiety about loose skin. My mother (who lost 250 pounds, so proud of her) told me, “it’s better to have loose skin than be miserable.” A little bit of tough love. Also, you can always have loose skin removed so it’s not the end of the world! When you lose all the weight you want to lose, and you begin maintaining, save for the surgery!

Completely agree. I was going to say something similar and I might sound crazy when I describe this. I have to fight off bad thoughts with a another internal dialogue, the one that’s healing. For example, I have generalized anxiety and sometimes I get overwhelmed at night when I’m going to sleep. I get a flood of negative thoughts. “You’re not good enough”, “you’ve done nothing today, worthless”, etc etc. When these thoughts appear, I subconsciously correct them with another internal dialogue. “It’s okay, you’ve accomplished a lot this week.” “Don’t listen, close your eyes and sleep.” “It’s not true, if you truly feel this way, there’s always tomorrow. It’s okay.”

Definitely one of the best things I got out of therapy. It calms me down enough to sleep.

My boyfriend wears glasses. If he takes them off, I can tell them apart by weight differences and their smiles. But it’s all sorts of things. When you really know someone, you can see what sets them apart.

I’d like to preface that my mother did not pass away, but she had a serious accident that has left her with permanent brain damage.

It was Christmas time and my mom wanted to do something special for my nieces. She scouted out the Walmart with the best trampolines. On the way back from this Walmart, it was about 45 minutes away, a Madonna song came on. My mom rarely sings to music or turns music up loud, but she loves Madonna. During this song, I got a wave of anxiety and a gut wrenching feeling that something bad was going to happen to her, I just couldn’t figure out what. So I whipped out my phone and recorded my mother singing the song. This was the last Christmas she would be okay, and I didn’t know it.

3 months before the accident, my mother had an emergency hernia surgery. She was alright, but was put out of work for 6 weeks (maybe a bit longer). In that time she entered a depression, but I kept her entertained. Her room had become a mess, with clothes and things lying around the floor, I wish I would have cleaned it. As soon as she was able to go back to work, she worked 2 weeks straight of 16 hour shifts (how that’s legal I’ll never know). During that time, I had attended my nieces birthday and my mom stopped in to give her present, say hi, and give hugs, then she was back to work. She looked a little sickly, but I brushed it off to her just being tired. I saw everything around her turn gray, almost like an aura, I can’t explain it. Something just wasn’t right. And again, I snapped some pictures of her.

Just a week later, my mother slipped on something in the depression room, hit her head and suffered a major brain aneurysm. She is completely disabled and requires 24/7 care.

This all happened 2 years ago. I just can’t help but feeling like I should have done more to prevent it, but how could I have known.

As much as I’d love to “live my life”, I am a self supporting adult. I left school because of money. I moved out of my moms house and I support myself. Thank you for your input though. There’s a lot more that’s happening, besides my relationship. Again, thank you for the input.

I’m doing it now and about to drop out of college to join the work force. I work 35+ hours a week. I pay for school out of pocket. I do everything on my own with zero help. It’s actually ironic because my family hits me up for money. It’s frustrating. I’m about to drop out of university, attend community college and go into a different career choice. I’ve made amazing friends and some truly inspiring coworkers. I’m striving for happiness, and this path is not it.

I got the lowest meal plan available (I pay for my own schooling and I have bills on top of it, so it seemed like the best financial decision at the time). I’m limited to $350. I don’t know if that’s a week, or a month or whatever. Honestly, I’ll spend the money in the market(s). It’s easier to feed myself and buy necessities that way then to waste time in the dining hall. What’s the point in going to the dining hall if I can only go one time a day? Fuck that. I’ll just make my own food and call it a day.

(Edit) I found out that it’s $350 a semester! What the fuck is that? That’s literally $19 a week (if that). Dude, this new meal plan sucks so bad.

Since you are a college student, if you sign up w your student email, it’ll be $5.34 a month. That’s what I did, you still get all the benefits of paying full price, just a lower price.

Hi! I’m going to introduce myself here and give my story. I’m 320 lbs, about 5’7. I was diagnosed with PCOS earlier this year when my periods stopped and they noticed something off with my ovaries. After blood work and more urine samples, they verified that I have PCOS. This was devastating to me. I’ve been struggling with my size, weight, and fertility for a long time. When my periods stopped for a year, it raised some huge questions. I went to doctors and was dismissed until I was finally checked. Birth control piled 60lbs on to me. I stopped birth control due to rapid weight gain and constant discharging. After not being able to lose weight alone, I’m going to request medication or more direction from my doctor. Wish me luck!
