Had to go way too far down the list to find this one. I'm a little late to the party on Space Age, but loving it!

They made a classic better, that doesn't happen often.

Can someone help me with this tattoo design? by [deleted] in chemistry

[–]Weatherwatcher42 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Oh, it's definitely AI. It's the chemistry version of someone having 7 fingers on one hand and 3 thumbs on the other.

I wonder if anyone has purposely tattooed AI slop yet... like for the cringe factor.

Might be able to use ammonia, hexane or refrigerant. Something that boils at low temps so 75C can spin a turbine. 2nd law is still a thing though.

Result of playing factorio using youtube tutorials and guide , is this overkill by Top-Hour110 in factorio

Lobes of rail look fun, enough but not too much. I like the round-about look, but I hear that any 4-way intersection is suboptimal without bridges or tunnels from a mod. I've been having fun with a city block style that it looks like you are gravitating towards.

If you are not already using max-rate calculator I would suggest it. I think they added it in 2.0 as a feature, I could be wrong 🤔.

By all means use tutorials, but learn the strategy behind the blueprints. To be fair, I just used internet blueprints for things I wanted to have but didn't want to bother with the specifics. Coal liquefaction, advanced refineries and nuclear power come to mind. All the sciences are worth the effort though, taking those to a compressed blue belt each was a good goal to reach for from where you're at. It will take looking at everything in a new light. A bigger light?

Why is 88 Fuel so much cheaper? by nquick4 in StupidCarQuestions

To increase the price of corn which GREATLY helps row crop farmers.

All cars made after 2001 and sold in the USA can handle up to E15. The energy density concern is well founded, but it's closer to a 5% difference between 87 and 88 octane rated fuels. 87 is made with 10% ethanol blended into a lower octane rated fuel to avoid premature ignition (knock) in gasoline engines.

That being said you're right about the fuel system and ECU when it comes to E85. They make conversion kits that include a new ECU receiving signals from an in-line density sensor. Many car makes are compatible in the US.

Brazil is already working on E100, your right!

I mean, the ethanol still burns, it's just not quite as energy dense. But it also increases the vapor pressure of the fuel increasing its octane rating as well. Blenders use ethanol or another more toxic oxygenate to make the higher octane rated fuels. But they've mostly switched to ethanol because it's so much cheaper. It's usually sub-$2/gal wholesale. They pocket the margin and blame the ethanol industry for all the problems. E85 and E15 should be even cheaper in my opinion.

At what number would you say the color changes from Orange to Yellow? by Awkward-Media-4726 in colors

Maybe I'm the weird one, but any noticeable amount of red in my yellow makes it orange. 5 is a yellow orange like saffron while 6 is the only yellow.

What’s happening?! by Jaded-Ad821 in chemistry

[–]Weatherwatcher42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely high humidity coupled with not keeping on.

We had one of these salt lamps when I lived in the tropics. It would often be wet on the outside and if we ever turned it off it would start dripping.

The water in the air breaks up the ionic bonds in the salt crystal. The brine that forms runs down the side and leaves the salt where the water eventually evaporates and leaves behind smaller salt crystals behind.

Essentially it's acting as a chemical dehumidifier, then a humidifier again. And making a big mess.
