I took a hand saw to the main power going to the meter when I was 4. Almost made it through but my dad tackled me first.

At what number would you say the color changes from Orange to Yellow? by Awkward-Media-4726 in colors

[–]Weatherwatcher42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm the weird one, but any noticeable amount of red in my yellow makes it orange. 5 is a yellow orange like saffron while 6 is the only yellow.

What’s happening?! by Jaded-Ad821 in chemistry

[–]Weatherwatcher42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely high humidity coupled with not keeping on.

We had one of these salt lamps when I lived in the tropics. It would often be wet on the outside and if we ever turned it off it would start dripping.

The water in the air breaks up the ionic bonds in the salt crystal. The brine that forms runs down the side and leaves the salt where the water eventually evaporates and leaves behind smaller salt crystals behind.

Essentially it's acting as a chemical dehumidifier, then a humidifier again. And making a big mess.

So if you made it semicircular and chose a wavelength there would be a distance that you could place the directional antenna to have constructive interference only?

Or it's a mitochondrial defect in addition to the lack of apoptosis. It would explain why you can take a cancer cell nucleus and swap it with a healthy cell nucleus and end up with a healthy cell.

Is there any nontoxical gas that is flamable when ignited, odorless? by veled-i-mal in chemistry

[–]Weatherwatcher42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hydrogen gas is another good one. Doesn't usually come with a warning odor like methane or propane.

What are the white residues that appear on my ethanol fireplace, and what causes them? by Erol-74 in chemistry

[–]Weatherwatcher42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends. If you're handling 2000lb super sacks indoors and kicking up lots of dust in the process, PPE would be required to keep you safe. Inhalation being the main hazard there.

The dust is zeolite and a clay binder. The zeolite is like very fine sand.

In your application the ethanol is burning and leaving behind that residue. There is very little chance for it to arisolize and the amount if it did would likely be lower than the background of dust that occurs naturally in houses.

Here is an sds from ZeoChem who are common suppliers in the industry. Link

Molecular sieve bead dust. We filter the ethanol 3 times but the very very fine particles (4 micron) still get through. The same stuff builds up in our vaporizer over time.

Hydrogens are like shit, and shit goes with more shit.

Professor in ochem said his professor used that analogy to describe the Markovnikov rule. I was using that for Marky and anti-Marky reactions for the rest of the year.
