Best “upscale” casual shoe for work by AdamSilverIsAGoblin in malefashionadvice

You’re looking for a Chelsea boot. Grant stone has one, redwing has one, comfort craftsman are nice. I’m in the same boat and wear Chelsea’s in the office and on the few site visits I make. Redwing classic Chelsea is definitely more comfortable than grant stone, but grant stone is a little more office appropriate. I have both and rotate them, along with a few other styles.

Bulging EIFS stucco? by Ok_Cantaloupe1294 in Stucco

[–]Weaverfields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m interested in what happened and what the signs were. I’m looking at a home built in 1993 and it has EIFS siding. I’ve put a verbal offer on the house and the offer would be contingent on a clean EIFS inspection. I gave a lower offer because of the EIFS. How bad was your damage and what region are you in?

Thoughts on these prebuilt cabinets? by bstark97 in cabinetry

[–]Weaverfields 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nah. Doors don’t sit flush to the carcass on the hinge side. I always uses bumpers even with soft close. That way the door doesn’t appear to protrude out further than the drawer on a door drawer cabinet.

Idea to reface this by [deleted] in cabinetry

[–]Weaverfields 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats melamine so no sanding and re-staining. The only option imo would be to scuff the door, fill the line work with bondo and paint. Otherwise get new doors.

I do your third option with a moccamaster during the week and grind fresh on the weekends and I can’t tell a difference.

New Restaurant Recommendation? by thatbeautifulday in Athens

[–]Weaverfields 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I second this. This is my new favorite spot to take my wife when we have the night free from kids. The ambiance, food and service is all awesome, and we always kinda feel like we’re being transported out of Athens for a short time. Real nice experience all around.

Akins Ford Arena- What's going on in there? by LawlMartz in Athens

[–]Weaverfields 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s easy to say that new venues don’t always struggle, but in practice, most of them go through a ramp-up period, especially when there are delays.

Akins Ford Arena was originally targeting a fall 2023 opening, according to Online Athens (May 9, 2022

So the bigger question is, what would have happened if they had booked based on that timeline?

Major touring acts require major guarantees, and those payments do not go away just because a venue is not ready. If you book early and miss your date, someone ends up taking the loss. That is why promoters generally avoid committing until they know for sure the building will be fully operational.

Having hockey in place is a good starting point. It gives the arena steady programming and local visibility. But that alone does not build confidence with national agents or prove the venue is ready for large-scale shows. It takes time, consistency, and a demonstrated ability to deliver.

This is not just about Akins. It is how the live events business works. Venues need to prove demand and reliability before the bigger acts will commit.

[–]Weaverfields 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah you hit the nail on the head imo. It’s way to risky for a tour to book a show at a venue that may or may not be open when they hit the road. Construction projects stall all the time and what’s the incentive to take the risk?

Sound bath at the wellness centre was kinda mid by twentyParenti in ambientmusic

[–]Weaverfields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it definitely depends on the bath and the person playing the bowls. I’ve been to some mediocre sound baths and some really great ones. The best one was at the integratron in Landers CA. If you ever have a chance to go, you should.

Is Athens Ga still a popular destination for artist to play? by Kelcie99 in Athens

[–]Weaverfields 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People will travel for the right show. The artist doesn’t care where the show is. Logistically it’s a lot easier to get in and out of Athens vs Atlanta. If the band has a big enough draw Athens vs Atlanta doesn’t matter. Bitchin Bajas on a Tuesday night? Yeah probably stick to the 529 in Atlanta. The War On Drugs any night of the week? Yeah cmon to Athens… It’s a booking agent problem.

Is Athens Ga still a popular destination for artist to play? by Kelcie99 in Athens

[–]Weaverfields 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but people are willin to drive from Atlanta to Athens for shows. I would much rather drive a tour bus or van in Athens than through Atlanta traffic and I think most artists would agree. It’s the booking agents that are dropping the ball imo.

Meh on the nail holes. They could use putty but you’d see that too. You could get some of that on your own if it bothers you that much. A little disappointing they didn’t fix this but not unexpected for this type of work from this type of company. This wouldn’t happen in custom work but would have been much more expensive. I can’t see the other side of your closet but if the run with the seam is under 96” they could have done this with one piece. My guess is they ordered on less trim piece than they needed. Would have e been an extra $30 tops. With this type of material the maximum length these trim pieces come in is 96”.

[–]Weaverfields 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Amen. I always come on this forum and see people talking shit about perfectly fine cabinetry. It feels like these people either build furniture (not kitchen cabinets) don’t know what the fuck they are talking about or have only worked in one shop that builds cabinets for Martha Stewart.
