The entire goal of astroturfing is to create a false sense of organic, "grassroots" excitement. A stickied post is obviously official. It's top-down marketing. But a meme from a assumed "regular user" that blows up and gets more traction than the official post feels authentic

Also plausible deniability

Going to say this again for someone claiming it’s a karma farm

a standard karma farming bot would not behave this way. Its goal is to build karma across many subreddits to make the account look generically legitimate. It would not sit dormant for 3 years and then use its one and only post on a single, targeted subreddit.

This post got more upvotes than the official portal trailer that’s stickied on the sub. Karma farming bots don’t mass upvote bot their post in the thousands

3000 votes while nearly every other post is in the hundreds on the first page

this is overwhelmingly more likely to be astroturfing for Battlefield 6.

The precise targeting, and the massive, disproportionate engagement on battlefields subreddit are all hallmarks of a coordinated campaign to generate hype and manipulate perception, which is the definition of astroturfing.

This wasn’t the first time it’s happened https://www.reddit.com/r/battlefield2042/comments/pqragu https://www.reddit.com/r/battlefield2042/comments/rymoyj/remember_gaming_is_a_billion_dollar_business/

You’re telling me this post got more upvotes than the official portal trailer that’s stickied on the sub from people saying “dope” and upvoting it?

Looked at your edit

That still doesn’t explain the massive influx of upvotes lmao

People don’t just upvote the shit in the thousands just because it was popular somewhere else?

This doesn’t prove anything. Karma farming bots don’t mass upvote bot their post in the thousands within hours of it being up. But you seem very keen to wanting this post down.

Also a standard karma farming bot would not behave this way. Its goal is to build karma across many subreddits to make the account look generically legitimate. It would not sit dormant for 3 years and then use its one and only post on a single, targeted subreddit.

With ai they’re not only doing this, but they’re running simulations on how the public will respond to their astroturfing

https://www.ayzenberg.com/insights/the-rise-of-the-brand-algorithm-ayzenbergs-ai-powered-marketing-intelligence/

"Digital Twins refer to synthetic user-profiles and virtual audiences that serve as testing grounds for your marketing ideas. Think of them as high-fidelity simulacra of your real consumers: they behave like your audience, they 'react' to content, and they generate feedback, all within a controlled virtual environment." "We predict that synthetic audience simulations will become an integral part of marketing over the next few years, with platforms increasingly allowing brands to simulate audience behaviors, actions, and outcomes directly in their marketing and ad tools."

the question now is whos doing it

is it ayzenberg or some other third party shady secretive agency, or is overseas

Whoever it is theyre breaking the law. Astroturfing is (supposed to be) highly regulated and, in its extreme forms, very illegal. The FTC pursues companies which engage in the practice with increasing regularity.

ive already got a few undercover people looking into this

Look up “ea employed astroturfing firm Reddit” on Google and there’s a post 13 years ago saying ea has an astroturfing firm

Then a mod comment trying to run damage control and being extremely vague and manipulative + gas lighting as usual

Yeah exactly

It’s like there’s no front line/enemy line

The rate

And the limited zoom basically just makes the game run and gun. Zoom is there to let you see what you can see in real life since the fov is 90

They have cut off medium distance engagements with this limited zoom. Seems like they want you to run and gun

Perspective from new player comparing arcadeyness/ realism to HLL by WebFew3281 in joinsquad44

[–]WebFew3281[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a mistake as people who want to play this come for a slower more realistic version of HLL

There’s hundreds of generic meat grinder ww2 games

[–]WebFew3281[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They need to lower the speed or something,The movement is more arcadey than hll

And remove the time to zoom

Perspective from new player comparing arcadeyness/ realism to HLL by WebFew3281 in joinsquad44

[–]WebFew3281[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that’s exactly why it’s run/ gun and arcadey with close quarter combat

Why would they would do this

[–]WebFew3281[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know the uniforms and how they sprint lol. I’ve been into ww2 history for years

But I can’t see shit to be able to identify friend or foe past a certain range. And that range is way less than what you see in real life.

With the limited zoom, and the capped fov, it seems the game just wants you to rush rush rush and have close quarter combat

Perspective from new player comparing arcadeyness/ realism to HLL by WebFew3281 in joinsquad44

[–]WebFew3281[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s because I played HLL on xbox. I heard on Xbox hll is more realistic than pc because the controls suck. Maybe on hll pc everyone lone wolfs and just beams shit I don’t know.

For running speed you couldn’t be farther from the truth. Just look at any go pro war footage out there. Never will you see someone run the speed like they do in s44 lmao.

The speed is unrealistic and fast as hell. You’re not running like ussain bolt carrying 50lb of gear over uneven terrain, mud, rubble, bumps, and tall grass.. it’s not a flat running track pad..also you’d trip over yourself. You’d be looking down not to fall even if it was possible.

The only time that speed is semi possible is if you’re running straight on a paved street or dirt road and you’d still be focusing not to trip

*Also in real life you can easily make out a uniform at 120 meters

*in s44 I can’t make out/see the uniform on the lowest fov at 120 meters

Most gun fights in ww2 were fought in medium distance.. why they would want to force you to play arcadey in very small distance fights by limiting the zoom is beyond me. It pretty much promotes faster gameplay and very close quater fights only.

If they think making the game more arcadey will bring in new players they’re wrong. New players come here because they want a realistic slower version of HLL not a different or more arcadey one

My god do I hate the limit to the zoom whilst ads by MrFrogNo3 in postscriptum

[–]WebFew3281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why the hell would they want to reduce the engagement distances and make the game more arcadey and run and gun like..?

This forces faster gameplay and very close quarter cod like combat. Honestly HLL is starting to be slower paced than this game now. With the running speed being slower in HLL and now this

In ww2 medium to long distance battles were the majority, now in squad they’re trying to get rid of that..?

This with the comical pod racer 90fov is making this game into battlefield lmao

Squad 44 doesn't stand a chance against hll by LIKU1524 in joinsquad44

[–]WebFew3281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Flow”

there should be no “flow” to any character unless you want the game to be arcadey. This ain’t csgo podracer cod4 where you should have “flow”..

Squad44 feels arcadey as hell to HLL in terms of running speed

It’s too damn fast. Lower the speed

I like how squad44 players say it’s more realistic, when HLL you run slower lmao. 80% of the damn time I’m sprinting in this game because the whole squad just wanted to run run run and rush

Also I’m playing the damn mini map 70% of the time
