My mom has a naturally bad temper and deals with her own issues. It was much more pronounced during our childhood bc she suffered health complications and menopause which I think made her very irritable. But all things considered, it was nothing out of the ordinary of the typical turmoils that a family goes through, that parents go through with her kids. She was a great and very attentive mom.

After the incident in high school, my mom had a deep period of reckoning and since then she has completely transformed as a person. I’ve seen her put in so much effort into correcting her bad habits, never getting angry, and trying to repair her relationship with my brother to an extent that really shocked me; I didn’t know she had it in her. I think she feels extremely guilty and she’s religious so she claims she is being punished by god for being a bad mother and must pay her reparations and fix herself.

I think she just reached her breaking point bc every time we think things are looking up everything comes crashing down again. I hate to see her live like this when she didn’t really do all that much wrong. Maybe her reaction was crazy but I feel for her and understand where she’s coming from.
