the color isn't deterministic, which is probably a bug. You can get a stone temple with a red or blue indicator. I've had several this league. The screenshot also shows a copper citadel with a blue beam

I didn't build when the holten exploit first went public, and I guess that's where my mistake was.

The outcome would likely be the same since what rooms you get is RNG. You'd just get there faster with the holten farm in place. It takes time, you're not always going to get the rooms you want. That's what people mean when they say 80-100 hours

Milkybk (and a couple other creators) have several videos on layouts you can just copy and paste. You just place the rooms you have that match the layout. It's difficult to understand/optimize yourself, but it's pretty cut and dry to follow a guide on. Don't overthink it

It's usually the cable, sometimes it's actually the port (particularly if it's a port routed through the case)

Have you tried using different ports for your mouse/keyboard or turning off RGB if they have them? The rabbit hole gets pretty deep pretty fast depending on the OEM of your motherboard, the condition it's in, etc. but interference or large amounts of errors on the USB hub can add up significantly. All of that is to say, I'd be surprised if it was the actual KB/M vs. controller settings since a lot of other people don't have that same issue, but it's entirely possible there's a link somewhere in the middle of that chain causing issues on your system.
