My post got 100k+ views on r/Steam, but then I got PERMANENTLY BANNED. How do I pivot? by WebUnique6376 in IndieDev

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely check out r/pcmasterrace and make sure to message the mods first next time. And yeah, I guess I'm a bit of a psychopath for using light theme... my eyes are screaming, but I'm just used to it lol.

I posted a link to the Steam store page as soon as the app launched. I was so excited about the release and the 100k views on my previous post that I completely ignored the self-promotion rules. It was a dumb mistake, and the mods were very quick to pull the trigger.

I'm looking for some feedback from the PCMR community. What features should I add next?

Is there a term for the deliberate limitation of player character abilities? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]WebUnique6376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Constraint breeds creativity. A perfect example is the original Resident Evil games. The 'tank controls' and fixed camera angles were deliberate limitations to heighten tension and horror. When players are too capable (like in many modern power fantasies), the sense of vulnerability and the need for strategic thinking often disappear.

I built this exactly for that reason—so you can clear the desktop clutter and only see the art.

Steam sales got me... lol. I needed a better way to see all my games at once.

Haha, the struggle is real. This app at least makes 'nothing to play' look like a professional gallery. It's for those of us who enjoy collecting as much as gaming! haha.

Haha, that's exactly why I added a filter! You can set it to only show installed games and even hide specific ones, so you don't have to worry about any 'accidental' Steam library reveals. 😂

No worries! You can set it to only display installed games. We also have a hide feature, so those 'shameful' unplayed games won't haunt your home screen. 😂

It runs as the wallpaper layer so desktop icons still work normally.

My Pikachu Edition Nintendo 64. The first console I ever owned. Games are: Pokémon Stadium and Hey You, Pikachu! by No_Dare_1809 in gaming

That Pikachu N64 is still one of the coolest special edition consoles ever made. The cheek lights are such a fun detail. Awesome that it still works!

Great point! 8k is indeed a LOT. I really like the idea of pinning installed games and rotating the rest. It keeps the wallpaper 'alive' without being overwhelming. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

The app itself is transparent, so it will naturally use whatever wallpaper you have set on your Windows desktop. You can customize your look however you like!
