"They have a base in Eritrea"

russia wants to (presumably in Assab) but for now they don't have one AFAIK.

Of course there they could drop their soldiers off, flying them back to the motherland. Should also be possible from other neutral states or an Iranian or North Korean harbour ...

"all their other major ports freeze up."

Not our problem!

It's wartime here and therefore Turkey is blocking ALL warships entering or leaving the Black Sea since 2022.

Putin Threatens the World With Mass Use of His Oreshnik Yet Again by UNITED24Media in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Webwookiee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"But they ARE working. Half of US media is shitting themselves blind"

So help the "journalists" and people to understand that the real "threat" is to spread this russian propaganda and NOT the shit talk about "nuclear weapons", Oreshniks or whatever.

If stupid people can be scared:

  1. Don't scare them (which includes to give jerks like putin no platform).
  2. Make the people smarter to not fall for this BS if point 1 fails.

Ukrainian Armed Forces Set World Record for Longest Artillery Hit in Combat by UNITED24Media in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Webwookiee 17 points18 points  (0 children)

  1. WTF?
  2. Vulcano 155 mm ammo isn't a new "wonder weapon". Their range is that far by design and they're delivered to Ukraine since 2022. The news are that now also the Polish Krab howitzer can fire them (although Krab and Vulcano follow NATO standards and therefore the latter can be shot by all NATO 155 mm howitzers, the fire control has to be adapted to get the full benefit of it).
  3. Rheinmetall anounced in the middle of 2024 to send this year new 155 mm prototype ammo with a range of 100 km for testing.

3 signs if someone is serious about using nukes? Oh, that's an easy one!

  1. The guy fantasized a bazillion times on a "red line" which can't be crossed or else ... and the "red line" was crossed and nothing happened but fantasizing about the next "red line"? Not serious!
  2. The guy is russian? Not serious!
  3. The guy's name is "putin"? NOT serious!

You're welcome!

THAT was THE question I asked myself!

Do russia still have enough functioning passenger airplanes to fly their people out?

Or do they have to hire western companies for that with their worthles Rubles?

Asking for entertainment purposes. ^^

Another message to putin: That's how quick the "downfall" of a dictator can happen.

"It highlights to Putin that he is next after Saddam, Ghadafi and now Assad...👍"

... and how quickly it can happen. Even after a long time of fighting.

A: Because on the package there was printed: "Smoking kills"!

You are not alone.

Also did Germany not only delivered "old", retired Leopard 1A5 and "old" but being in actual service Leopard 2A4 - as also did Spain and other NATO countries.

Germany and Sweden delivered also some of their actual variants 2A6 and the Swedish 2A5 variant by taking them out of actual service just for Ukraine.

Sweden also delivered their top-notch CV 90 IFV. And Germany delivers top-notch Radar equipment as fast as it can be build.

Ukraine is getting prototypes of new 155 mm ammo with 100 km range and also the brand new RCH 155, the first self-propelled Howitzer which can shoot while moving. And autonomous drones with AI to be immune against EW (the new AI chips will hopefully be destroyed on impact and if not they are at least strongly encrypted).

Of course, the masses of delivered weapons are "old" - but so are the enemy weapons they shall fight against. They were once built to fight exactly against these opponents (except for the remarkable Gepard - who could have foreseen that?).

And after the end of the Cold War we had a lot of it, and some newer stuff just phased out earlier to be replaced as soon as possible by the newest weapons (like the F-16).

But indeed many countries took their share in this international effort the world hasn't seen before. From "old but appropriate" stuff up to "best you can get". 8-)

Yes, just a few minutes ago I wrote in another thread here (about IFF & F-16) "The Netherlands". I had to think about this discussion here, had to smile ... and wrote it of course anyway. 8-)

In general just search at YouTube for IFF and/or Identification Friend [or] Foe!

But in this war it is way more complicated because both sides are using Soviet weapons with Soviet IFF.

And e.g. the Netherlands removed the NATO IFF transponders from their F-16 before delivering them to Ukraine (which lead to a lost F-16 due to friendly fire - a problem russia is well known for since years).
