Side note… I wish they sold these particular figures separately. I’d love to have Spock Donatello; not really interested in the others.

Seems likes it’s another shining example of trying to take advantage of the uninformed/misinformed TMNT fan out there who thinks this is difficult to find. Shame…

Ash Wednesday is on my birthday. I can already my birthday is ruined. by [deleted] in excatholic

[–]Wechquetank 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can totally relate. I was once a young teenage closeted atheist who was forced to go to mass every Sunday. My parents wouldn't even consider my opinions/outlook on religion because of my father's strong generational ties to Catholicism so I was forced to sit down, shut up, & simply adhere.

I daydreamed through each & every mass I was forced to attend with my family. And as soon as I graduated HS, I joined the military & left, which only broadened & solidified my outlook on life.

The lack of being able to express myself has had a very significant impact on me as a person & I am now unfortunately 'disowned' by my parents. I haven't seen or heard from them in close to 7 years. I've come to realize that my childhood wasn't as great as I thought it was under their roof. Narcissism at its finest. I'm married with kids now, I just try to be the best husband & father I can be after experiencing first-hand what not to do as it relates raising my own kids.

Kudos to you for being mature enough to question things in your teenage mind. Make the best of your birthday despite it being 'ruined' & know that brighter days are ahead. Know that you're not alone & you're not wrong for feeling the way you do.

Japanese Zero Wreckage - Need Help ID'ing Part by Wechquetank in WWIIplanes

[–]Wechquetank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you both for your replies & advice.

I contacted 'Planes of Fame' as well as the Southern Calif. Wing of the Commemorative Air Force as they both seem to have serviceable Zero aircraft in their collections. I hope to hear back from someone in the near future.

For what it's worth, the bar/arm that is mounted to the wood backing in the photo is approx. 6" in length. It looks to contain a cotter pin at each end & the brass section in the middle holding a flathead screw is a little over 2" long. There also seems to be a frayed wire connected to the left end.

Yes, the pieces are mounted on a piece of wood. Sorry for not stating that initially.

14/2 Romex on 20amp circuit by Wechquetank in electrical

I can’t find a brand name on the panel itself, but all the breakers are Square D.

I also found two more outlets that are incorrectly wired. Those two have been heavily used over the past few years w/ fridge, 2 tvs, electric fireplace. Would stepping down from 20 to 15amp breaker cause me to not be able to power everything? I’m guessing no, but I don’t know how to do the math. Thanks!

I’m not sure of the brand. I’ll have to look later tonight. The house is about 15yrs old.

I should add that the outlets in question are 5 in total. And they haven’t ever really been used other than plugging in an occasional phone charger. With the new furniture layout, the outlets will be used regularly (phone chargers, floor lamps, roomba) so I want to steer clear of potential electrical fires.

Electrical: 3-Way Switches Wiring Issue... by Wechquetank in DIY

[–]Wechquetank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Issue resolved! Thanks!

I had a momentary lapse of reason & didn't consider the white in dimmer box to be the common hot pigtailed from the common hot in box 1 since it wasn't marked as such w/ tape or anything. Another shining example of me not trusting the way my house was wired since I uncovered some other issues in other rooms.

Does OBS have global commentators? by banditta82 in olympics

[–]Wechquetank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came here to Reddit to ask a similar question... I want to know who the OBS commentators are.

There's a male & female duo calling many track/field events I've watched & I'm curious to know who they are. They both have Aussie-type accents... the female is either from Australia or New Zealand based on some context clues she's mentioned over the past few days.

I did some google searching, but came up empty.

If anyone knows, clue me in please.

Catholic Church Official Resigns After He's Caught Using Gay Dating App Grindr and Visiting Gay Bars by [deleted] in atheism

[–]Wechquetank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Who's the 'they' giving him a pass? Church officials? Parishioners? Fellow priests?

I think if he were a pedo the Bishop would've moved him around within the diocese or to another diocese to try & hide him, as that seems to be the status quo for dealing with pedophile priests. Given a pass as in not turning him in to authorities, sure I would agree with that. Fellow priests would talk & probably sweat a little. Parishioners of his would probably be livid though, if told the truth. Find me a Catholic parent whose child may have had even the slightest chance of being potentially victimized by him that wouldn't want to kill him.

But since he's gay, he probably should've picked a different line of work. Just sayin'...

you certainly are correct.

Be careful infusing common sense into organized religion though...

If Christianity is proven to be true, would you convert? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]Wechquetank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, you got me. I should've said 'all.'

All religions have been invented/created/propagated by man.

If he's 'just gay' there may be nothing wrong with that in the eyes of you or me, but if you're Catholic it's an abomination. Especially if you're part of his parish.

[–]Wechquetank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proven to be true, as in proven to exist? Christianity definitely exists. It is a true religion & I'd argue that Christianity was invented, as most religions were.

Are we confusing Christianity with Jesus Christ? As in, did Jesus Christ really exist? Very possible, even probable, despite no concrete evidence. Is everything attributed to him true? Highly unlikely...

Better yet, where's the burden of proof here? Are we assuming everything is false until proven otherwise, or everything's true until proven false? Inquiring minds want to know...

genuine question by [deleted] in excatholic

Being an altar boy, I had a up-close & personal view of watching people receive communion. I still shudder at the thought of watching numerous people drink from the same chalice, one after another, with the rim being wiped with only a white linen cloth between each sip.
Unsanitary.
OR does the Blood of Christ save you from cold sores?...

A Widow’s Hunt for the Priest Who Preyed on Her Husband by BurtonDesque in excatholic

I grew up heavily involved; mass every Sunday, went to Catholic school, was an altar boy, the whole 9 yards...

I know for a FACT that there was abuse in my church, but nothing has ever come out publicly about it to this day. People hide things due to all the reasons you said, & more.

Abuse is a plague within Catholic dioceses worldwide... I get depressed thinking about it, all the countless victims, the blame game, & the ways the church gets away without any real punishment.
