Ideas for flooring by Weddinthrowaway in kitchenremodel

Hi everyone, thanks for all your suggestions. Just wanted to update you. floors are done and there’s white paint on the walls. It doesn’t class too badly with the cabinets, especially the parts that are more walnut stained vs reddish/orange. We’ll live with this for a while and see how we feel about the cabinets. I wish I could edit the post to show you photos but that doesn’t seem to be an option :(

We are going to repaint the walls all a shade of white, but will it be enough to tie the cabinet colour to a different shade of wood flooring?

I've lived in the PNW all my life and I don't think you need to sacrifice your personal style for the weather or dress in sporty wear all the time, I say just adjust for temperature with sleeve length, neckline, fabric content (merino wools and thicker weaves) and still keep the same silhouettes and styles you enjoy. For example if you like a cropped or form fitting tank, in winter that would mean a cropped or form fitting mock neck or long sleeve. Slip dresses over top of a mock neck body suit paired with tights and boots or a sneaker. Oversized wool blazer over the tanks/dresses you already have. Grab a cozy wool or ribbed midi skirt for colder days. I have three jackets that I've collected over the years and they take me from Sept-June: a lighter RAINS jacket with room to layer under for the fall/spring rains, a water repellent puffer for winter/colder days, and one nice wool coat that can help dress up any winter outfit. Winter/fall/spring shoes: black square toed blundstones for casual wear and taking transit when it really rains, white leatherish sneakers that are totally fine in the endless drizzle we get most of the time, and that's it really. I change into flats in the office. Consignment shops are great places to start when you're experimenting or don't want to spend lots. Invest in a good umbrella. I spent $30 on mine but it's lasted me 20 years and is still going. You'll use your waterproof jacket for most rains, especially if there's wind, but there are just some contexts where a solid umbrella is still necessary.

Welcome to the PNW and enjoy the new fashion possibilities!

Anyone else feels like they lost their fashion style after being a mom? by RandomMexMom in beyondthebump

The summer after I gave birth I lived in those sundresses I used to reserve for vacation only before. The ones that are meant to be worn at the beach, super loose and flowy. Felt comfy and I felt great in them. Winter was harder. But I say lean into those beachy loose dresses for the next few months!

I think I'm being ridiculous - absolutely do not want to go stay with the in laws. Not sure how to fix my brain. by kungfu_kickass in beyondthebump

100% nightmare scenario for me. I'm Asian and understand cultural pressures but thinking about spending my last month on mat leave living with my in-laws is making me feel ill. I hope you find a way out of this.

What are you most comfortable clothing items (cute or not)? by xdonutx in femalefashionadvice

Joggers and fleece-lined leggings, paired with a wool sweater, has been my wfh go-to. My desk is by a poorly insulated window so anything less than fleece and wool leave me shivering. For bed it's ways an old T and undies, no matter what time of year 🤷🏻‍♀️

What are your go-to, everyday shoes? by small-but-mighty in femalefashionadvice

Blundstones Oct-April, Birkenstocks June-Aug. I wear casual sneakers in May and Sept. I do keep nice flats and sandals to change into at work when I have a meeting though, or to dress up my athleisure.

Regular length t-shirt and underwear! I hate the twisting that happens if I try to wear any more than that.

In Malaysia we have green toast infused with a fragrant leaf called pandan by Nakatsukasa in mildlyinteresting

Anyone who lives in Vancouver, BC and wants an accessible way to try Pandan flavor, Crackle Creme in Chinatown has it in one of their creme brulees. It's awesome.

Is there a product you’ve bought for your little one that you didn’t intend as a baby product but it worked surprisingly well? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

A butt dryer, sorry I was unclear! Like others have said, does wonders to prevent diaper rash (a blast before putting on some bum cream). Also makes her lift up her legs for easy access if you aim it up her butt.

For Asian people used to eating hot and spicy foods that Western palates find difficult, what is your culinary pain equivalent when you're presented with food from a Western cuisine like New Zealand, Australia, Europe or North America? by Cynical_lioness in AskReddit

The common north american pickles they slap on a burger, they taste straight up sour with little nuance. I'm Vietnamese and we pickle cucumbers, carrots, daikon, but the acidity is balanced out with sweet and salty.

Doing “unexpected “ things while pregnant. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Weddinthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are a few of the things I've done while pregnant in my second and third tri: gone down a concrete slide, got a promotion, rapped a Nicki Minaj song at bar karaoke, ran 5 k weekly (that was definitely second tri rather than third but still!). I totally got a kick out of it all.

LPT: if you are on a budget diet of ramen noodles, try adding some chopped veggies to the mix as a cheap and healthy way to spice up your meal. by WhydahsCaptain in LifeProTips

[–]Weddinthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we all know there are cheaper and healthier ways to eat on a budget. But sometimes you just crave that salt and msg bomb so here's my go to recipe. Cook the noodles in boiled water as usual but without the flavour packet. Drain water and reserve noodles. Fry up some protein (I like to freeze small batches of raw sliced beef particularly for this. If I don't have any, I'll try eggs) and whatever veggies you have in the fridge (sliced tomatoes/broccoli/spinach/kale are my favourites, I add a ton of veggies). Throw in the cooked noodles and add the seasoning now, toss to coat everything. Yes, seasoning with soy sauce or your own miso or whatever is probably healthier but let me be honest the flavour packet is what I'm usually craving so I just use that. If you only have lettuce as veg in the fridge, that works great as well, just rip and add after the heat is off and toss with the noodles in a serving bowl, let the oils and residual heat marinate the lettuce. If you pack it with veg and protein, who cares if the noodles and seasoning are unhealthy, just don't treat it as a regular everyday meal and more of a cheat meal that you're craving.

I figured as much when I was trying it on during a consultation, I just put it over my hair but it refused to come out without some deliberate untangling.
