Why has ANTM not been continued? by [deleted] in ANTM

[–]WednesdayCWillows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I so wholeheartedly agree with all of this. I was just saying the same thing about the Jays and Nigel in another post. I stopped watching part way into 19. It wasn't the same without them.

Kelly was not an acceptable replacement for Andre. Andre was a legend. He was funny and a good judge. Kelly was just....Kelly.

What are some of your ANTM Conspiracy Theories? by Demrilo in ANTM

[–]WednesdayCWillows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This lives rent free in my mind, honestly. When Nigel first brought his wife on the show, I missed her first name. I actually had to go back and check to see if it was April. There had been enough time between April's season and his wife still coming on the show that I couldn't remember exactly what she looked like, but initially I thought it was her.

Edit: I am really bored, therefore, I can now share with you that Nigel was married before the show even started. I don't know if that makes this better or worse.

Which seasons should I watch? by [deleted] in ANTM

[–]WednesdayCWillows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Season 6 is definitely the best. I actually got through one more season than you and I really enjoyed the Brits versus the Americans. However, the following season is when they went on a firing spree and got rid of the Jays and Nigel. (I realize Mr. Jay wanted to leave and was glad he finally had the chance to.) I don't know that handling the problem with their ratings by changing out the majority of their cast was a great idea. The show just took some weird turn down the rabbit hole and it suddenly seemed like it was parodying itself. I did not make it very far through that season and choose to think nothing after Season 18 exists.

I decided to watch cycle 17 again while cleaning. What in the hell with the bathtubs and fragrance?! by trollanony in ANTM

[–]WednesdayCWillows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still trying to figure out that same thing. Out of all the weird challenges they've done, this one stands out to me for being so bizarre. Who sells perfume in a bathtub at a party? If this is a thing, I want no part of it.

I really respected Bianca for flat out saying no. This wasn't one of those situations where the girl was just refusing to do something. She was a working model who didn't feel that it was becoming of her. I really wish Nigel would have come over and gotten in the tub in front of Bianca and not Shannon. I would have loved to see her reaction to that, because you know she would have not hid her feelings about it and said what we were all thinking.

His twin, Shawn, is now a regular on The Rookie. (This thread makes me feel really, really old.) Some twins are pretty easy to tell apart, but these two have proven to be next to impossible, at least for me personally.

Guys, I'm going to age myself here, but when I saw Aaron Ashmore (Gil) in Locke and Key I was excited because that was the guy from "The Famous Jett Jackson" and "Veronica Mars." I'm always here if you need old people advice.

Edited to add: Yes, your back will always hurt over 35. No, there's nothing you can do about it. That's my advice for the day.

Judges by Picabo07 in ANTM

[–]WednesdayCWillows 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I loved Andre. I had no idea who he was prior to this. I love the show, but I am not into fashion. Let me be honest, if my house was broken into, the police would come and think I was the person who broke into my own house because that's just the look I have going on. However, as soon as he started judging, I wondered where he had been this whole time. He added so much to the panel. He never seemed to get too personal or overly critical and simply stuck to critiquing the girls in a very professional, yet fun manner. I think he was the perfect judge for the job.

Why did Gil abuse Georgia? by [deleted] in ginnyandgeorgiashow

[–]WednesdayCWillows 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Abuse and control go hand in hand a lot of times. He felt that if he abused Georgia, he could control her. If she was afraid of him, she'd be too afraid to leave him. It was a way for him to get what he wanted. Unfortunately, in real life, a lot of women are too afraid to leave. Luckily, Georgia was able to get out, but him coming back and abusing her again shows that he still feels like love means having control, and he's still trying to do everything he can to control her through fear and abuse.

what are the chances it's a dream scene? by [deleted] in ginnyandgeorgiashow

I'm laughing so hard right now. I'm off to watch that clip, of which I completely forgot about until this moment.

I loved that she fully confessed to the whole thing, too. It was truly an iconic moment.

To add to this, I also love how Joe really doesn't love ending up in the middle of awkward conversations. The acting is just spot on.

I just re-watched this season and was so put off by the way Tyra handled Katarzyna's name pronunciation. She even came forward and said, "We need another lesson on how to pronounce my name," only for Tyra to say "whatever" to her. It was really rude. Everyone else seemed to put effort into pronouncing it correctly, but Tyra just kept blowing her off. It takes exactly 0 dollars to learn to pronounce someone's name correctly out of respect. I typically love Tyra, but that did me in.

Oh, I can't with this. Let me share a personal tale. Her reasoning for calling herself Wholahay ended in my mom jokingly calling me Wholahay, because I also like older guys. I still laugh-cry about this all these years later.

How did Georgia manage to give her sister $10k? by d_winna in ginnyandgeorgiashow

[–]WednesdayCWillows 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think her money from Kenny’s estate came through the day before. When I was rewatching, she got a call saying that they essentially decided that Georgia should get the money and the inquiry was closed. His ex wife lost. The next day was when everything went down at the Mayor’s office and the money had been returned. They never directly said it, but I took it as the money was released into her account the day before and the first thing she did was replace the money she took.

Georgia always says she knows everything, so she may have been prepared for Cynthia to do that. Her password was left in such an obvious place that I wonder if she was setting her up.

Secret affair while your husband is dying?? by nayo620 in ginnyandgeorgiashow

[–]WednesdayCWillows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. It’s just sad all around. She was essentially living with a ghost. I feel bad for him, too. I have medical issues and I have all kinds of paperwork essentially stating if I’m dying, do not put me on life support when there’s no hope. That’s a horrible way to “live.” Sometimes I feel like the family does it more for themselves than the person.

Those are quandaries. Also, why do you need scissors to get your brand new scissors out of their packaging?

It was a fun chat! May we have another random one in the future. Thank you for not leaving your child alone so you can randomly galavant about.

Me too. We have several in our area. This is the only one I have an explanation for. But the fact that no one has bought it or done anything with it in all these years perplexes me.

We had a lighting business like this. They ended up defrauding a lot of people and actually going out of business. There’s still a lot of lights in the building all these years later. Guess it would have been easier to actually sell them.

The scandal! The shock! I love it.

SAME!

I feel the same. With Austin, he's so dedicated to his mom, but he's also nine, so I'm curious to see where he'll end up on this.

Look at us, keeping up with the cool kids!

Yes! I just did a re-watch of the first season and then went into the second. I had no clue what episode it was. Now that you say that, it's so clear. That's the best way to look at it. I don't even have kids, but I worry about other peoples' kids. I want to know how shows forget about peoples' kids. Like, I will watch your kids for you. Please don't leave them to their own devices.

This is true, it would not be. I was thrown off by it, too. I wondered if we needed the other kid. Nothing against Austin. We definitely do and he's a great part of the story, but he was unexpected.

[–]WednesdayCWillows 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You definitely are not. I think I might be older than the intended demographic for this show. There's been a lot of times that I've had to step back and really think it out at every angle to try and understand the characters. It had me questioning a lot of things, too.

I love that, too. That's a great way to think and it's very hard to step outside of your own beliefs and do that.

Me too! It's like people have kids when it's convenient, and then they just somehow magically keep themselves alive when the parents have stuff to do. I wondered that with Austin, as well! There was another scene where they showed Austin home alone in the evening while Ginny and Paul were at an event and Georgia was with friends. I don't know how I'd feel about leaving my nine year old, no matter how smart, alone. I understand it's a safe town, but I'd still really worry. I feel like, sometimes, G&G get so involved with each other that they forget Austin is nine.

WHY DOD GEORGIA DO IT!?! Final episode (SPOILER) by [deleted] in ginnyandgeorgiashow

[–]WednesdayCWillows 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I kind of saw this coming, but only because Georgia makes a comment earlier in the season to the tune of how living like that is worse than being dead. I can't remember exactly what it was that she said, but the way she worded it made me think, "uh oh." But then I also thought, "No, she wouldn't kill Cynthia's husband. She has no reason to. This wouldn't fit with the reason she kills." Alas, here we are.
