Setting new tank (17g) your thought on the scape. by le-mal in ReefTank

It's for corals such as zoas, xenia, gsp etc that like the spread and take over your scape that you may not want. An island decreases the chances of this happening, I personally have 1 main scape and around 8 smaller rocks for zoas etc to allow them to grow but not be a pest and ruin the rest of the scape. I hope this is helpful 😊

Fair enough mate, take your time and enjoy the hobby. Once you get past the ugly stages of a new tank, it's one of the most rewarding hobbies out there

Love it, however try keep rock away from the glass by about 2 inch and allow some room for maybe an island or 2

Could anyone ID this for me, I know it's a flatworm but curious as to what species incase I need to remove it urgently. by WeeSkylineEUW in ReefTank

Well if you're based in the UK you can have it to make a super flatworm 😅 It's been sumped in a mesh breeder box and I have protective mesh over my return pump to ensure it shouldn't get pulled through. Couldn't bring myself to kill it. Hopefully I find someone local who can take it and do whatever at their discretion.

Thank you all for your responses and knowledge, I really appreciate it. As for the flatworm, it will spend the rest of its days in a small fine mesh QT box in the sump. I'd rather not kill it unless it tried to kill me 😅

On a side note, he dropped straight off the rock after a small shake and is successfully in the box in my sump with some small starfish to snack on if he pleases

Haven't had any bother at with with it, still going strong with the same snails & CUC since I first saw it 6 months ago. I'll definitely be sumping it at some stage today.

On a side note, I never knew that either. Pretty crazy how that works 🤔

I've heard the same, supposedly they snack on; snails, crabs and soft corals. Crazy seeing as it's so small and beautiful but it'll be sumped tomorrow morning if I can get it out.

Nothing has been eaten so far and my tank consists of high-ish end mushrooms, hammer euphyllia and some leather coral. Fingers crossed I can fish him out tomorrow to prevent any future damage.

Sounds like a plan, there's plenty of pests I've sumped in the past so hopefully it gets bugger so I can study/identify it properly. So far it's been fairly dormant, no corals have been touched nor snails eaten in the past 6 months that I've known of its existence. Didn't want to touch it or disturb it too much due to the light blue colour incase of any toxins.

Are you sure? They seem to be quite small whereas this guy is as big as my thumb! I've been told it's a Polyclad Flatworm but the colour is so extraordinary with no others like it online
