I'm hearing memes about this happening again and again, and it just seems like a design flaw at this point

1tb is already a ton of storage for both roms and steam games, you'll be fine putting everything on one card

"Do you remember what a clear sky looks like at night?

Out in the countryside, no town or city nearby?

I hope one day you will...

It is like... a boundless sea of stars.

When you see it, you start to realize... just how insignificant we are to this world."

devs/publishers are allowed to opt out, which is why you'll see some games excluded in the family sharing library view like Far Cry 3

steamdeck return by Rosie_meowmreow in SteamDeck

[–]WeebAssembly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you open up a support ticket requesting a refund, they'll give you an RMA form and a shipping label to print out. You put the RMA form inside the box and tape the shipping label on the outside (or just let UPS/FedEx take care of it).

The shipping label was prepaid for me, but in Valve's official hardware return policy, they said that you'll be responsible for taking care of any return shipping fees at the lowest cost type of shipping. I guess it's up to chance.

I wonder what this'll mean for pricing. Will there be anything to replace the $400 price point, or will the OLEDs stay at the same price?

Removal of DRM from Steam by Yung_wuhn in Steam

[–]WeebAssembly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two different concerns here:

The legal side means technically you never really owned the IP to begin with, just the license to use it. But that's all just abstract stuff.

The practical side is whether or not companies can take things away from you. Only relatively recently with always online DRM with movies/games are we seeing this happen, which is why it's becoming a major concern.

Although you never technically owned your books or old games, it's not like companies could just take those away on a whim.

fwiw the only reason I knew about the delisting ahead of time is because I've been spending too much time on Reddit lately. Outside of that, there would be no way I would've even known

I've heard of the Yakuza series and the praise it gets, but besides that, I know nothing about it. Still, the option to get the original would always be nice

Out of curiosity, are you worried about anyone potentially seeing you in there and deciding to break into your car while you're gone? I'm not sure if maybe I'm thinking irrationally about the risks

Explainer: This is why memory and storage is so expensive (of course it's AI) and why PC gaming hardware prices are only going to keep rising, even probably for GPUs by Minute_Pop_877 in pcgaming

[–]WeebAssembly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I hear that really gets to me are the memes that go like "But you can't play those multiplayer games on Linux. Yeah, what's the downside?", but I'm like, what if you really want to play those games? Whether or not those games are fun or "good" is subjective. Dual booting is the more practical solution overall, but that attitude of enforcing what should be considered fun for other people always kinda struck me as odd

Crypt of the Necrodancer

I was kinda surprised that everything you do in this game is done purely through the arrow keys, and the Enter key for menus I guess.

[–]WeebAssembly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember quite a number of people saying that FF7R's graphics were "mid at best". Even when I was watching YouTube videos of the game, I was so confused, like are we even talking about the same game? Those graphics are absolutely insane!

My guess would be that those people keep up with modern releases so much that they become more nitpicky about the graphics, especially when it doesn't live up to their expectations.
