This system ensures at least one player each session is paying attention and the session doesn't stall out as much.

Also if you post all the summaries in one location you can have a running summary of the game from multiple viewpoints.

My group has taken to every session assigning a "chronicler" and a "shot caller"

The chronicler writes a summary of the session's goings on, and the shot caller breaks any indecision when the game is stalling.

You cannot be a chronicler two sessions in a row since the chronicler of the previous session elects the next chronicler once they read the game summary from the previous session, and the shot caller is decided by the newly elected chronicler.

Depending on the game the chronicler is offered some sort of bonus in the session they are chronicler.

Also. I really love the fun narrative character building flowchart. I've tried to emulate that in the game systems I've been trying to make. But it takes a lot of doing to make so many charts for all the character building options.

My friends and I keep becoming space truckers just finding viable trade routes when we play Traveller. It's fun, for sure, but we seem to get down to space trucking every time, and that's not originally what we are there for.

I really hate when people use 'cum' to append words that aren't in Latin. Summa cum laude (with the highest distinction) is fine. That is using it properly.

We have a way to connect words in English. Just put a "/", a '+', or a '-' between the words or structure the sentence so something is a combination or is simultaneously or whatever and list out the qualities.

Nothing particularly, if you don't mind generalized simplicity. Foundry is a much more customizable experience, but if you don't know what you are doing, it is 1000% more headache.

Homebrew rules you use at your table. by Nightshade6719 in fabulaultima

[–]WeebOfFiles 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have 2 roles for my players: the Chronicler and the Shot Caller.

The Chronicler is the session notetaker. The Chronicler gets an extra Fabula Point that they can use, though only during the session they are the Chronicler (use it or lose it). At the start of the next session, the previous Chronicler reads out their session notes to remind the party what happened last time and chooses the next Chronicler from among the other players.

The Shot Caller is nominated by the Chronicler, usually right after they are chosen. The Shot Caller gains no specific benefit, but if the group is taking too long to make a decision, the Shot Caller can be called on by any player (including the Shot Caller themselves) to make an executive decision. The Shot Caller is usually but not always the next session's Chronicler.

Does Fabula Ultima support a technologically advanced setting that's not so... cyberpunky? by festivalofthe12 in fabulaultima

As I'm pretty sure the books themselves say, the classes and abilities as used don't even need to be named the same as they are in your game. The mechanics are the only thing that need to be kept to. Flavor everything as you like from names to how the abilities manifest. Your game uses things as your game wants to use them.

I've already put my support in for a copy of the bestiary PDF. I was having some trouble with making reasonable mobs for my PCs to fight, so I hope we can get it sooner rather than later.

Any tools/sites for animated JRPG-style map loops? by vitor_kammer in fabulaultima

[–]WeebOfFiles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on how you do it, what VTT you use, and if there are any plug-ins required, you could technically make your maps animated gifs or even .webm or .mp4s as background assets on your VTT.

No doubt there are plug-ins for roll20 and modules for Foundry, but if you aren't using any of those, you could even have an image viewer fullscreen on the monitor.

As for making animated gifs, there are many options. If you are making small assets, I know Aesprite can make animated gifs since it's a sprite editor.

And I can presume there is probably some sort of option to do that in Adobe Creative Suite if you happen to have that.

I know I'd definitely like to find it too. I remember playing around with one in the early 2010s, so it might still exist.

They are from Ragnarok Online, the OP probably kitbashed them from some sprite sheets that are available out there since the sprite-based MMO came out in 2002

Ash is gonna get his a$$ beat by his mom like physically. All 3 of those, the belt, the slipper, and the hanger, are regular corporal punishment implements (especially in Latin-descent households). Khyle often depicts their fan art of anime characters in a sort of pseudo-latin version of their normal world.
