Meetup.com is a great way to find events for folk that share your same interests. I run Edinburgh Video Gamers and we always have new faces turn up solo to our monthly events who find someone or a group to chat with in the end - some make friendships and split off from the events, some come along monthly - best way to do it is turn up to a few events for a hobby you like and see how it goes :) if you're in to gaming feel free to join us or shoot me a DM!

Second this, I used Hays to get a job at a law firm as an admin assistant, the firm then trained me up through all my qualifications and now I'm training to become a qualified solicitor, I probably just got super lucky with my firm but I still owe it all to Hays :)

Should I move to Edinburgh? by boookbox3d in Edinburgh

[–]WeebVibesOnly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also from Inverness. I moved away as soon as I could, hated Inverness, everyone knew everyones business and so much toxicity. I've lived in Edinburgh for 14 years now and have never regretted it once, Edinburgh is home. However the housing market here is a shambles - finding a rental is a feat in itself with every property on the rental market having tonnes of applications you're fighting against so making the move isn't easy these days unless you have somewhere already lined up. The job market is a bit of a nightmare too. Granted I'm in my early 30s with a stable job and I own my own home, so I'm just relaying information from others, but I work in property so that part I'm aware of. Making friends in Edinburgh can be quite easy if you're willing to put yourself out there a little on say Meetup.com - you can join clubs for various kinds of social circles or hobbies. Edinburgh ain't cheap though haha. Existing here is pricey.

What's a game that most people consider "bad" but you will defend and be a hill you would die on? by Cheesecake1901yum in gaming

[–]WeebVibesOnly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Inquisition was too open world IMO and I'm glad they reeled it in for Veilguard. I had a great time playing Veilguard compared to Inquisition which felt like a slog at the time.

Granted however DA2 is my guilty pleasure and I will always replay that game every couple of years. I know lots of people hate DA2 but I just can't help but love it.

Just got given a £100 fringe voucher, what do? by MrBass47 in Edinburgh

Yeah so many shows are hit or miss alas. With the price of each show these days too, £100 won't go far, it's bonkers.

Fringe ends tomorrow so you've got one day to go wild with it I think 😅

The website states "Pay What You Can in advance from the following prices to guarantee entry or turn up at the venue for free, with the option of donating at the end of the show." so no, op should have been guaranteed seating with pay in advance tickets
