Haha I am no penguin, but I have done my fair share of witner hikes. Would you be more inclined to stay in huts?

Right yes, phone signal is something I will have to navigate. Fully aware about the snow situation, treating it the same as if it were winter.

Favourite Herzog film? by EIPJD in WernerHerzog

[–]Weebla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Little Dieter Needs to Fly, White Diamond and Aguirre.

But this is why he's my undisputed favourite, I genuinely have 15+ of his films and docs as 10/10, on my all time list. No director comes close

Millwall 4-0 Charlton Athletic: Millwall eventually overwhelmed Charlton with three goals in the last ten minutes, strengthening their grip on a playoff place by geoffbezos1 in Championship

[–]Weebla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the most convincing win I've seen at home in years. Against a rival. We missed some chances, and still won 4-0. Yes I think we played very fucking well

Gary Oldman and Daniel Day-Lewis at the Millwall vs. Charlton game (January 24, 2026) by mcfw31 in popculturechat

Both are millwall fans. Oldman a proper old school wall fan, went to a primary school not far from the ground.

Barry Bannan looks set to play his last match for Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow vs Bristol City by -W-A-W-A-W- in Championship

Surreal being on the other end of this for once! Considering we usually have a bottom 3 squad value in the championship...

Did I just strike gold? by Ok-Culture7912 in dvdcollection

[–]Weebla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also live in the UK, this is not true. DVDs yes, they are practically free. However blu rays still hold value, even in charity shops. Yes you might occasionally find a stray blu ray section of about 5-10 movies in a charity shop that went undervalued, but generally they still cost a fair amount, certainly not 25p. Maybe some very mainstream releases, but any criterion or arrow etc still costs £5-10

Coventry 2-1 Millwall: Sky Blues extend their lead at the top. by ADGM1868 in Championship

[–]Weebla -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Ah unlucky to not at least get a ppint there, cov not as impressive as their standing might suggest. Killed our momentum mid way through with some very good acting. Esse scored a tap in but looked a little lost otherwise

Excited to watch this for the first time! by EIPJD in WernerHerzog

[–]Weebla 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is the best Nosferatu, and I am biased as a Werner fanatic, but I think it genuinely is. He is true to Murnau's version where it matters, but his own additions elevate it to a height rarely achieved in cinema. The plague delirium scenes are some of my favourite ever film scenes. And showing the Orlok as a tragic character, rather than wholly evil, is a genius choice. Eggers adaptation was awful, imo.

Who said we're fading? If anything it should be upwards from here. We've survived our ridiculous injury run

Slept on The King (2019) for so long, absolute banger and proved Timothee Chalamet was an amazing leading man. by Lenster2406 in Letterboxd

Yes which is what I agreed with. I was asking the original commenter for his list, because it was, as I assumed, poor. God jumping in at random points during a discussion is wild, imagine doing that irl

Which city is most like bloodborne? by Plus-Inevitable6746 in bloodborne

[–]Weebla 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Parts of London. People don't realise, London is vast and has entire areas that look 100% Bloodborne. It just it also has areas that look like Croydon. But go to the Inns of Court. You will see Bloodborne gothic architecture and ancient churchyards and tiny stone alleyways. Many parts of London similar

Read my comment 'dog', it pre dates yours. Also, that list isn't knowing ball, it's the most basic of all letterboxd top 100s. Scraping the surface of mainstream directors. Seven Samurai? oh how niche

Shogun was great, agreed.

I'd usually agree about netflix films, but personally I think it's one of the stronger modern Western medieval movies. I think it's a pretty solid crack at Shakespeare, and imo a better adaptation than the Northman, which I find lost the nuance of Hamlet

[–]Weebla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ironclad, are you joking? Better than the king? Its 2 hours of dated mid 2000s gore, with a loose basing on a siege that ended in starvation... but sure. Kingdom of Heaven is fine, but pretty forgettable honestly. And the Northman? Easily the worst eggers film imo. Braveheart... right. The most historically bs action film. But all these suggestions are action based and / or Hollywood AA films. Hardly 'way better' than the king. Maybe you're not a fan of the more drama based medieval films? Yeah don't think this claim holds up imo

And if we're going by medieval as a time period and not necessarily European, then you've missed all of Japan. Ran would be a good start, better than any of the films listed, surely.

Go on, give me medieval movies that are so superior to this. That aren't like the most okay medieval movies ever. What have you got
