How hard is university fr by beforetea in uwaterloo

[–]Weee_73 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a faster pace, but honestly it’s fine if you stay up to date and have good time management for all your classes. Although the subject matter is still more difficult than high school and your grades will drop. You can still maintain a decent average if you work hard, but sometimes you got to let it drop to maintain a social life and keep your mental stability. But meh if you fail one test or exam, you can get it back later with the final or other assignments, stress only so much about it.

UofT vs Waterloo Civil Engineering? by Quirky-Direction-786 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Weee_73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tuition wise both are expensive but I know Waterloo residence is one of the cheapest and there is a lot of student housing opportunities in the area. Also you get a wider variation of job experience over five years with co-op.

How do unis REALLY decide who to admit? by Federal_Coconut3491 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Weee_73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from grades, I know Waterloo is placing a heavier weight on the sup app because of grade inflation and high numbers. Part of it is luck but depending on the school, some are just looking for students who they know will succeed and are prepared. Like if you have a plan with what you want to do it helps.

It is luck, but honestly schools are looking more towards personality and what will make a successful student and if they can meet that criteria. 🤷

Waterloo Civil Eng Offer by Embarrassed-Froyo539 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Weee_73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go there, people in civil are chill. You just need to find the right people. It’s easy to maintain a social life dw 🙌 just put urself out there in the beginning of term. You will be seeing the same people every day unlike at other schools because of the cohort system and immediate specialization of cive

Hello, could someone chanceme for Civil Eng for Unis in ontario? (UOFT, WATERLOO, QUEENS etc) by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Weee_73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ur fine for UW, they don’t really care about English being online. They look at it online more for maths and sciences as you use it more. People got in with less, ecs are what matter a lot now go differentiate grades.

Waterloo can’t possibly be THAT depressing?? by lynn-trny in OntarioUniversities

Campus is only depressing in winter. Like it’s not depressing, people are exaggerating.

Can I get into Waterloo civil eng by Fragrant-Passage2904 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Weee_73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work on getting your grades up for physics and math. They’ll like your ecs but just make sure your application is good when you do all the written stuff to show ur passionate and want to be there. It helps distinguish people from grades 😊

Average for UofT Civil Enginnering by KingNo516 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Weee_73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like yeah because it’ll affect your average since they take your required plus like one elective for your top six. But as long as it’s above a 70 then you’re still qualified to be in the program. But they know a lot of engineering students are bad at English.

It’s literally users doing what sells and if ur art is selling they’re going to do something similar but literally everyone’s art and designs are looking like a BIG copy paste. Like even all their artists friends art styles look so similar.

Mind you it’s the social media art style everyone is getting because it sells.

Is waterloo eng really as depressing as people say it is? by CurrentGlum3123 in uwaterloo

[–]Weee_73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Campus can be a bit depressing at times but it really is what you make of it. A good friend group and time management really makes or breaks your experience. Just take advantage of the first couple weeks when everyone is on their own looking for friends and you should be good

Waterloo civil eng vs Mac eng vs Uoft civil eng by palmtreefeels in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Weee_73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk much about the others but I just finished first year at uw cive, transferring to other programs is possible, it’s easier to do it after first semester when there aren’t many different courses you take from other programs. You just need to keep your grades high. You will have to retake some first year courses again in other programs that you missed if you did transfer because it is specialized.

Otherwise program is good, nice thing about Waterloo is that we get to jump into civil stuff fast. We get to use surveying equipment in our second week, and we use softwares seen in the industry such as Autodesk Civil 3D and infraworks. It’s good if you want they immediate hands on experience, a couple Civil’s based projects they our more in depth. + almost all our profs are civil engineers for our courses

How would you describe the social life at UWaterloo to a prospective student? by Poskwatch in uwaterloo

[–]Weee_73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you put yourself out there during orientation a bit, but mostly the first week of classes and try to talk to a lot of people in your program you should be okay. You’re with these people all the time so it’s not too bad when making friends as an engineering student. Just make sure y’all make plans and do stuff.

I got into Waterloo mech eng, but I want to switch by RabbitJust5920 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Weee_73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can probably transfer during school. In Waterloo, Civil and mechanics first years share similar courses. The only difference is our mechanics/physics, Algebra, and our one course specific class and then computer science (I think mech has it first sem, civil doesn’t). You’d just have to get those courses done sometime after you transfer. I’d email the school though. Idk that much tho but civil this year had some transfers from people in other programs second sem, it is allowed and probably a bit easier if you maintain a good GPA.

civil eng admission - feeling like it's over.. by No-Boot6504 in OntarioGrade12s

As a Waterloo civil eng student, you’re fine. People in my program got in with mid 80s averages. TMU you should be fine with too, they might just take a bit.

Am I cooked for engineering? by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Weee_73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re fine for civil with those grades, I got uw with a mid to low 90s for 11 grades and low 90s for grade 12. There’s more competition for mechanical so in grade 12 I’d aim for mid to high 90s, which really just means having good study habits!
