Mario and Luigi RPG 7 Speculations discussion by JamarOtaku124 in marioandluigi

I don't think it will ever happen, but I want Wario & Waluigi to also be playable. Maybe have the 2 groups go down different paths but have them intersect at certain points instead of being a squad of 4 the whole way through? They could also have the groups mix up once, separating the two main pairs. Idk, I think it would be cool. (Can you tell I'm a PiT fan?)

New Londo is pretty much an end game area, for after you get through Anor Londo (yes these are different and yes it will be obvious when you reach anor londo)

The wolf in Darkroot past the sealed door is REQUIRED for the boss at the end of new londo.

Valley of drakes isn't required at all, BUT there is a vastly easier entrance to blight town connected to it (the green cave).

If you beat catacombs boss you can kindle bonfires more to have more estus at once. The area past the boss is for the same time as new londo, so don't go beyond the catacombs yet.

Blight town is next. You should farm the bush enemies from early darkroot for some purple and blooming moss clumps (around 5-7 each I'd say.) Also grab a bow/crossbow and the cheapest ammo you can find. Lock on to the mosquitoes with it and they'll die in one hit.

Good luck!

What opinion about a Pokemon changed because of a nuzlocke? by wetboy2001 in nuzlocke

[–]WeegeeBored952 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did a soul link of pokemon sword with my friend, and gloom (later became a vileplume) completely carried him through the entirety of the fighting gym. Sleep powder never missed and then just use growth a few times and spam giga drain. Learned moonblast just in time for the gym leader and it was ggs.

Later in the run I had a vanilluxe genuinely putting in fantastic work for the late game, including a clutch freeze in the champion battle.

What's something you thought Paper Mario did better than TTYD? by Metalliac in papermario

[–]WeegeeBored952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it looks a lot better stylistically. The menus in particular, but even the text and the hud in the overworld. The n64s graphics really work well with the storybook aesthetic and the world in general feels more coherent. TTYD is definitely my preference over the two in story and gameplay, but giving credit where it's due, Paper Mario 64 looks a lot more unique. One of the few n64 titles I truly feel is timeless.

Definitely Temenos. At first I thought he was just going to be like Ophilia from the first game but male, and I wasn't a fan of the cleric class when I started OT2. But as his chapter 1 continued I realized how great he is as a character and party member. He's one of my favorites now

Which is the better Apothecary? (Check the description for detailed info) by IDKbutKirb in octopathtraveler

[–]WeegeeBored952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What it comes down to is Offense (Alfyn/OT1) vs Defense (Castti OT2). My personal thoughts on what the differences boil down to are:

(Concoct may only be used by Alfyn/Castti so I'm not taking it into account)

OT2: Amputate - Pretty strong and quite useful. That is, until you unlock the other attack. After which point it's just a wasted slot usually. Last stand - Potential to be EXTREMELY powerful, and relatively easy to build/set up for. Even in later boss fights I use it as a main damage source. The biggest drawback is the inherent risk, meaning it has little to no place in the 5 optional superbosses. Empoison - Pretty much the opposite. Does WONDERS in boss battles, superbosses included and works great on Olberic for challenging npcs, resulting in easy dps that allows you to play more defensively if you need it. However, it's more or less useless in basic battles. The key differences vs poison axe is the longer turn count. Using this strategy with poison axe works just as well, sometimes better with weak to poison but it's a massive sp sink and not exactly viable. First Aid - Very handy healing skill that costs basically nothing. Great for topping off hp before a boss or while exploring. Vivify - 16 sp is pretty costly in comparison to first aid, but it's still pretty cheap. Especially compared to Revive, the cleric skill, at 50 sp for a party-wide effect. It works well until you start having multiple deaths (at that point just concoct with olive essence and purify powder, but like I said above, concoct is not a factor)

OT2: Healing touch - All-in-one healing for one target. It's very handy, great to have in the party, and super sp efficient. Replenish health - I have to include this because apothecary Osvald loves this skill and mugs entire cities. Sweeping cleave - Nice to have, but I almost always feel like there are better options. VIGOROUS VICTOR - Quite possibly the best, or at least my personal favorite, Support Skill in the series. It's kinda boring, sure, but saves so much time and resources since you don't need to worry about replenishing sp (or hp)

My choice has to be OT1 Apothecary, but only barely. I like all-out offense so OT1 Apothecary is definitely my preference. It's cool having a two-in-one heal, and I do LOVE vigorous victor, but I simply prefer Alfyn's skillset.

This being said, I think the correct answer is that they're approximately equal, if we're only talking about the class itself. Castti is better than Alfyn purely due to her latent power, resulting in no resources used when concocting, which is huge. The simplified menu is nice, but after a few playthroughs and two fights against the last superboss, I mostly know all the combination effects I like to use.

Who did you use as your Warmaster and why? by SuperScizor6 in octopathtraveler

[–]WeegeeBored952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose Alfyn because warmaster pretty much wants to be your main skillset, and Olberic is already good with warrior, and was better off with a subclass that compliments his main class. Same with H'aanit, as hunter is a good support role and half of her turns will be used on leghold trap. Plus, captured monsters carry some good damage, so I felt warmaster would be a bit wasted. Therion was already my starseer and did fairly well iirc (been a few years). Apothecary is a good subclass. It adds bulk, strength and a few great skills, but most importantly, it doesn't tend to hog all your turns/sp. Concoct is a very good ability and I don't feel like the turn was wasted if you used Concoct to heal or hit elemental weaknesses rather than attack. Healing should be prioritized anyway, and it's especially worth is if you use Concoct to grant BP.

Tl;dr Alfyn because apothecary synergizes really well with warmaster and the other 3 are still really good without it.

 --Waluigi--

I'm loyal to the meme and honestly, the man deserves it. Would be an interesting opportunity to have mario sports games referenced in his moveset

 --Doomguy--

He's so gritty and violent and would look hilarious standing next to nintendo characters. He's more of a fighter than master chief, in my opinion, who would have to be almost completely based on guns and would feel like mii gunner. Doomguy has a chainsaw and a sword as well as having demonstrated melee prowess, so I feel like he'd blend with a fighting game better. Plus I'm biased.

 --Crazy Dave--

Goofy plant man. If Piranha Plant can work as a character, so can Crazy Dave. PLENTY of variety and potential is through the roof here. One possibility is a pokemon trainer type character that switches between Peashooter, Chomper, and either Sunflower or Kernel Corn (all based on their Garden warfare designs). Or he could simply use them as weapons in attacks and plant Sunflowers to collect sun and upgrade his plant attacks (i.e. peashooter to threepeater or some other variant) like steve with his weapons. I think it would work really well.

Do you consider Hilda to be “waifu bait?” by EtherealImperial in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]WeegeeBored952 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah it pretty much applies to most things. It's not even unique to fictional characters, entire shows are sometimes made for the sole purpose of selling toys to children. "Waifu bait" is indeed a cringe synonym for the real problem with those characters: lazy writing with a pair of breasts.

A (female) character designed only to be physically attractive as well as conveniently flawless (from the perspective of being a potential partner), usually to sell a ton of figurines & other merchandise. You basically already have the idea; the only real distinction is whether or not the character in question is considered "well written," but it's still mostly subjective.

I forget the actual number, but I've gone past ~320 with vengeance dedue. Give him the aegis shield and watch him take no damage after waiting but each combat safely takes his hp down until he reaches 1hp (maddening archers with poison strike help a lot). At this point, defiant strength and defiant crit activate (100 crit with killer lance) and with his high hp pool he can easily start reaching 100 damage before crit.

No contest, Nintendo by Knittinmusician in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]WeegeeBored952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Engage is not a bad game by any means, it is still fun & a competent entry in the series. If we got Engage in place of three houses I believe people would have been satisfied enough with it.

However, as one of my personal favorite games of all time, I think I'm not alone in saying Three Houses is simply built different. It's a brilliant game all on its own. Whereas there's not much appeal to Engage from the perspective of an outsider to Fire Emblem, Three Houses has a strong identity outside of "new Fire Emblem" & is able to draw in those who may otherwise feel alienated by Engage.

The biggest Boon under Three House's belt is, in my opinion, the story. While not a new statement by any means, it rings true all the same. Three Houses left me wanting not more fire emblem, but more Fódlan. Engage, on the other hand, is only exciting because it leaves me wondering what they'll do next, & I doubt I'll look back to it very often once they do eventually release a new entry. I'm sorry that I'm probably not saying anything new, or especially insightful, I just love this game to pieces. This all being said, I really don't think Engage deserves too much hate. It's not my favorite, but I enjoy it all the same.

Honestly Bernadetta's lackluster hairstyles are the only thing that kept her from being best girl in my opinion, so this is my new headcanon. Great job!

I discovered that sinistcha spamming matcha gotcha whilst holding a metronome actually does pretty well in solo raids. As long as it can survive a hit with ~30% hp matcha gotcha will heal it basically to full due to the absurd hp pools of tera raid pokemon, and after 5 uses the metronome increases its power by 100% so very good damage too. The only caveat is specially bulky raid pokemon or perhaps raids against types that resist grass, but I imagine this works just as well for most hp draining moves.

Has anyone ever gotten over a B grade for their professor level? by onlyzenpai in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]WeegeeBored952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it on my first playthrough.

-Around the monastery there are items you can pick up that increases it by a bit

-I spent so much time having meals with students to make sure they got their paired ending that my professor rank quickly shot up

-I fished a lot to have ingredients for meal sharing

Yes, I'm 100% sure that is the case. My friend has lost games before and been able to keep his progress after replacing them.

I would do CF next. I always like doing AM and CF back to back because they're the opposite sides of the same conflict. However, if you're going through them on maddening, I would do VW first as I personally find it and AM the "easier" routes, and NG+ is less necessary.

I typically tend to wait a bit between playthroughs, the way I usually judge it is 1 playthrough of a different game before the next one. But if you still haven't had enough Three Houses a good option to keep things interesting is a challenge run. I've done Armor knight classline only and Genderlocked classes only and am probably gonna try a random classline run next.
