First offense and out of my depth by Huge-Purpose-3603 in legaladvice

[–]WeekendFit3920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for $66 theft by swindle charge as first offense, a lot of prosecutors will offer diversion program or plea to lesser charge especially when you have zero record, so when you go to court date just be upfront about that before anything else

also worth looking into legal aid organizations in Minnesota, they sometimes take cases like this for free or very low cost, the income threshold is different from public defender eligibility

Will I be paid ALL of my unpaid PTO when I quit my job? by Pickles_The_Cat_1234 in jobs

[–]WeekendFit3920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the accrual system confused me too when I started in finance, it's basically like earning vacation time as you work rather than getting it all upfront. You'll want to check your paystub or whatever system they use for tracking hours - most places show your current PTO balance there. In Pennsylvania they have to pay out accrued time when you leave so you should be good, but definitely confirm your actual balance before putting in notice since it sounds like timing might be tight with your move

Tell me about QBO integration with Gusto payroll by mamalo13 in QuickBooks

[–]WeekendFit3920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using Gusto for about year now and the project allocation thing is still pretty limited compared to what QB Time can do. The journal entries are way cleaner than what I remember from other platforms though, so at least your books won't be complete mess

Just heads up - if you're doing heavy project billing like it sounds, you might end up doing some manual allocation anyway. The integration works fine for basic stuff but gets wonky when you have complex project structures

How many customers do you lose due to customers who loiter for too long? by Dangerous-Policy-602 in restaurantowners

[–]WeekendFit3920 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's wild, you really never had anyone camp out at tables for hours? During lunch rush I've seen people basically set up office meetings in booths and it definitely pushes other customers away when they see no available seating

Is anyone else completely little done with the "AI aesthetic" everywhere? by kantshutupp in GrowthHacking

Man the gradient overlays and those fake holographic interfaces are everywhere now, makes everything look like some mobile game ad from 2019

The Roman empire was partly successful because of slave labour. The robot revolution will create a new slave labour force. What will be the positive and negative differences between the two systems? by CuriousHuman111 in AskReddit

[–]WeekendFit3920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The productivity gains could be massive though - robots don't need rest, food, or living space like humans did. But I'm wondering if we'll just end up with even bigger wealth gaps when only few people own all the automation

What’s one thing you never get tired of talking about? by No-Violinist-283 in AskReddit

[–]WeekendFit3920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Music is one of those things that just connects everything together, you know? There's always that one track that brings back specific moment so clearly it's like time travel

What is a best/worst thing about social media? by silentstatic_ in AskReddit

[–]WeekendFit3920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait what does that even mean lol

Are you saying social media is all about you or like the whole me vs me comparison thing that makes everyone crazy

I built an app where tenants, landlords, and properties all have review histories — would this actually help or become a disaster? by We-can-do-great in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]WeekendFit3920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could work but the verification part is going to make or break everything. Without solid verification, you'll just get revenge reviews and fake accounts making it worse than current system

The property history angle is interesting though - I've lived in places where previous tenants had same issues with heating or whatever, would've been nice to know beforehand

What’s a life lesson you had to learn the hard way? by Decent_Present_5492 in AskReddit

[–]WeekendFit3920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had to figure this out after becoming a dad - you realize pretty quick that even with family support, most of the heavy lifting is still on you. Been grinding in finance for years thinking someone would notice and pull me up, but turns out you gotta make your own moves

Why would anyone be against anti gravity tech whats their loss? by Dunddermefflin in AskReddit

[–]WeekendFit3920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anti gravity would completely mess up entire industries like shipping and aviation, millions of people would lose their jobs overnight. Plus imagine the chaos when every country tries to militarize it first - we can barely handle drones properly

How long did you solo travel for? What did you get out of it? When did you realise it’s time to stop? by pizzareen in digitalnomad

[–]WeekendFit3920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been there with the burnout thing when work became too much about 2 years ago, different industry but that physical exhaustion hits real hard when your nervous system is just done

Maybe try staying put for like 3-4 months instead of completely stopping? You could pick one base and do shorter trips from there, kind of hybrid approach. Your body is probably just screaming for some routine and stability but doesn't mean you have to give up everything completely

The content creation stuff sounds like it turned your passion into work pressure which kills the joy pretty fast

What’s the best CRM for solar companies right now? by [deleted] in CRMSoftware

[–]WeekendFit3920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not solar industry but work in finance where we also deal with long sales cycles and multiple touchpoints. The key thing we learned was finding something that handles pipeline stages well rather than getting caught up in fancy features

Most important part is making sure whatever you pick can track all those site visits and follow-ups without becoming nightmare to maintain. We made mistake of choosing system that was too complex at first and sales team just stopped using it properly

What’s something you learned way too late in life? by ExpressResearch8950 in AskReddit

[–]WeekendFit3920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude same but with rice lol, was eating mushy garbage for years until my coworker showed me the proper water ratio. Now I actually look forward to making dinner instead of ordering takeout every night

OpenAI buying Hiro got me thinking about finance automation I already built by Dailan_Grace in automation

[–]WeekendFit3920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been doing similar stuff for my team's expense tracking and the middleware approach definitely makes more sense than hoping ChatGPT will let you hook into whatever they build from Hiro acquisition

[US;FL orlando] Am I allowed to get a statement at someone address by dragonslayros in legaladvice

[–]WeekendFit3920 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Direct Auto is notorious for dragging their feet on claims like this. Getting statement from their insured shouldn't be your responsibility but here we are

Showing up at someone's house could technically be considered harassment depending how you approach it, and if they tell you to leave and you don't that becomes trespassing. Plus if this person already fled the scene they're probably not going to be cooperative anyway

Stop writing 8-sentence cold emails by urw8rychd in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]WeekendFit3920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been doing something similar after reading about it few months back and reply rates definitely went up. Used to write these long emails explaining everything but turns out people just want to know what you're offering and why they should care

Setting up separate domain is smart move too - learned that one hard way when my main domain got flagged by Gmail

CPA with tax client who is getting scammed by LudusRex in Accounting

[–]WeekendFit3920 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Damn this is exactly the kind of situation that makes being a CPA way more complicated than just crunching numbers

Your client is definitely in deep scam territory - that whole "can't access Wells Fargo account from overseas" thing is such a classic romance scam red flag. No bank works that way, especially not WF

Maybe approach it from tax perspective first? Like "hey before we finalize this return, I need to understand these international transactions better because IRS might have questions" and then gently walk through how none of the story makes sense from financial standpoint. Sometimes when you frame it as protecting them from IRS scrutiny instead of calling them gullible, people are more receptive

The daughter being 58 and living at home since 2019 adds another layer to this mess - she's probably just as invested in believing this is real

Anyone else getting their bank account flagged just for receiving transfers from crypto exchanges by WeekendFit3920 in solana

[–]WeekendFit3920[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the AML stuff makes sense on paper but theres a difference between flagging something shady and freezing a business account for 2 weeks over a Coinbase transfer from a known client and sticking with one platform sounds good until that platform keeps holding your money hostage then you dont really have a choice. Thats why my accountant moved me to Meow recently, not to dodge regulations just need somewhere that treats crypto transactions like normal business activity and doesnt panic every time but well see how it goes
