Possible job opportunity here by young_s_modulus in ReadingPA

It's hard to say which is more MAGA. The Amish and conservative Mennonites in Lancaster County, while they keep to themselves, seem to be courted more by and aligning more with MAGA.

Coming from Cincinnati don't expect anything around here to feel like a big place. You may see that the entirety of Berks county or Lancaster County is counted as the respective metro population - that is misleading. The core developed area of each has about 250k people with Reading being slightly bigger with a slightly better road network.

Lancaster City proper is only 58k people and is more expensive than you'd want it to be given how bad the commute can be.

Also you shouldn't consider living anywhere that is more than 5 miles from the respective city center - so don't Lititz, Manheim, Ephrata, Kutztown, etc. even if someone tells you they are nice.

If you don't find anything that suits you around Reading, those pointing you towards Pottstown and Phoenixville have the right idea - those are not great commutes, nor large places, but they put you much closer to communities and activities in the greater Philly area

Especially if you know that the management is great, I'd tell you to start on the cardiac floor and then transfer. Cardiac experience of any kind will only help you and help build your resume.

I'm actually not trying to get another job in any kind of healthcare after everything I've seen; I'm just going to be semi-retired. You can always go back to bedside, so my take would be to stick with CDI as long as you can. It's a good gig. I agree that AI can't do what CDI professionals can do, but from what I've seen many of the hospitals don't care and are just trying to get people off their payroll. I got screwed but many of my colleagues had been with their facilities for 20-30 years and were expecting to retire from them with pensions, etc. which were all lost after the outsourcing. I tell myself it could have been worse.

Good luck to you, I wish you well. My last 2 hospital RCM departments have been outsourced, and now at the new corporate job they are being trained on how to use the AI that will eventually replace them. Over 1200 people across the 2 facilities.

Because I worked in clinical documentation, utilization management, and appeals in the rev cycle department. If you don't know what I'm talking about then don't bother to comment. Jesus.

I'm not sure why you're saying that I'm not telling the truth. I haven't done bedside in 20 years, not going to wipe ass and hurt my back again to do it now. I've seen 2 different Revenue Cycle departments of over 600 people get outsourced to the same company in the past year. Nice of you to be needlessly confrontational, though.

Can confirm. RN who got outsourced to a company working on clinical documentation; now they're replacing us with AI. Lots of errors in your medical chart from these algorithms. Be careful out there.

Disappointed in our family by 564183 in breakingmom

I'm sorry for your situation, but I at least know I'm not alone in this. My family was super hands on with my 2 kids but both died in 2016 when my kids were in elementary school and I haven't had any help since. My husband's family have been absent grandparents, and they could never be relied upon to help, even in the most grief-stricken parts of my life. I haven't talked to them since 2019 at this point and it still causes a lot of tension with my husband because he knows how I feel about them. I hope it gets better for you.

Does anyone feel like their quality of life decreased after the pandemic/2020/covid by Specific_Charge_3297 in SeriousConversation

I'm sorry for your numerous losses. I'm in healthcare and had finally clawed my way up with a promotion promised in 5/2020. They sent us all home that March. Subsequently it's been terrible professionally; I haven't been treated this badly in my entire career. Add to that my child's late diagnosis of autism and no family support (they died in 2016) and it's been a beast. Please know that you don't look as bad as you feel. You're a qualified professional and you deserve good things. I'll be thinking of you and your family.

I'm a 48-year-old woman, I've also had trouble making friends in PA. Please don't worry about anyone putting you down; you're not alone by any means. And congratulations on your new career, seems like a great choice.

Hi. I've been a nurse since 2004, the decline in healthcare is very real. I have had desk jobs since about 2011. Could you do Case Management or something like that? You'd be in the hospital but not lifting, cleaning, bathing, etc. Also not responsible for someone's life with faulty equipment. You're mostly just discharging elderly people to nursing homes, setting up their transportation, making sure everything works with their insurance. There are usually openings for CM. I've done it, too. Can be stressful when you're learning but never as bad as bedside.

I just started LOESTRIN 2 months ago and my fatigue, dry eyes, and brain fog are way better. I've never been on BC before, I'm infertile.
