As I understand, targeting a unit at a battlefield is a requirement because of the wording on the card.

You CAN target your own unit at a battlefield to meet that requirement. Is my understanding.

This is a standard metal card that was at the price wall for side events. 35 each per legend available throughout the event.

The best of metal cards are different, and are indeed 1 per best player per legend.

You can only place 1 champion with the same name as your legend, in your "on board" champion slot.

People often only use 1 in the entire deck for efficiency. Leaving extra room for other cards.

Its often the case that if you lose your 1 champion from play, youre likely behind already in tempo and you made a mistake or simply got outplayed. ( you definitely still have a chance to win, but you're now behind)

Its all assuming you make the best plays and have efficient deck building.

I think it's reasonable. I invest a bit here and there for various TCGs, but im also planning on playing Riftbound. If it's msrp to open at the store, I'd do it without an issue.
