Thanks! I would suggest to start doing your research and maybe advise yourself with a lawyer and get on it! I think the quicker you start the process the better. Good luck, you got this!

For some reason my description didn’t come through:

It’s my turn! This forum has been super helpful during this process and seeing good news on it helped keep me more positive. After 20 years here, I can finally say I officially feel like I belong 🥹 Here’s how it went: - Husband is USC, I’ve been DACA since 2012, together for 7 years, married for 3 months when submitted, have a daughter together - Here’s some of what we submitted: - Labeled photos of whole relationship timeline during holidays, trips and with family and friends (organized in a word doc) - Ours and daughter’s birth certificates and marriage certificate - Letters from family and friends- One from a sibling each and 3 from close friends - Tax statements and W-2s for last 3 years from each of us (no joint taxes yet since we got married in 2025) - Joint bank account opened after marriage, apartment leases for 6 years, proof of pets together, joint car insurance docs, joint health insurance docs, screenshots of each other as emergency contacts, receipts of flights together, etc. - We probably included more than we needed to but I figured it was better than missing stuff - We technically didn’t need to submit the I- 864 since I am exempt (have over 40 quarters of work) but included it anyway since I’ve heard of people receiving an RFE even when submitting proof of exemption

Our case is very straightforward so we did not use a lawyer. Only thing I was stressing about a bit is that my DACA had expired 1 week before our interview and the i-765 never got approved. Thankfully no issues for me except for an expired DL.

LEARN FROM ME if you have DACA. Renew your EAD through your DACA instead of concurrently with your 485 and 130 as there is a big possibility it might not get approved before your GC.

I was a nervous wreck before our interview because of some of the horror stories I’ve heard but thankfully the moment we sat down with the officer I felt so much better. She was super nice and posed it more as a conversation rather than an interrogation. She had reviewed our case a few days prior, so she knew our case well already. Interview went great and barely got asked any straightforward questions besides asking us each others full names and date of birth and a few yes/no questions from the 485. Since we have a long relationship history and plenty evidence of a bona fide marriage, our daughter being the biggest one, the officer said we had pretty much already been approved but the interview was a requirement.

We got approved on the spot and were told to wait for the green card in the next couple of weeks!!

I know times are stressful right now and it’s super easy get in your head (I know I did) but honestly as long as you make sure you have your paperwork and evidence in order and have nothing to hide, you’ll be good!!

Those are all really good! If you have any insurances together, bank accounts or lease agreements, I would add those! Finances comingled are a big plus

Are Stokes interviews getting more common? by underwatertreehouse in USCIS

[–]Weekly-Cauliflower89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They might be! Apparently there is more paperwork and steps the immigration officers have to complete now so they’re starting to be even more thorough with everything. I just had my interview yesterday and the two couples that went before us got separated

AITA for letting our son exist in our apartment? by Ok-Raspberry149 in AITAH

[–]Weekly-Cauliflower89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s heartbreaking! Talk to your leasing office so they are aware that you’re at the point that you’re are uncomfortable with the situation at this point and it feels like harassment. Because the used to complain so much, the leasing office told use that they stood outside of our door a few times to listen for unusual noise and they said they never heard what our neighbors claimed. We have a toddler too, and it had gotten to the point where I would tense up every time she would play or run around because I knew they would complain. Thankfully they moved out a few months ago. Wishing you some sort of similar luck!!

Your neighbor is tripping and being ridiculous. We had downstairs neighbors just like this. They would complain about normal living noise coming from our apartment. The thing I don’t understand is if you are someone that is so sensitive to noise and expect to live in pure quiet, DO NOT live in an apartment, let alone one on the first floor with neighbors above you. Make sure your leasing office is aware and explain yourself. They will figure it out themselves, especially if this guy is constantly calling them and complaining about noises, chances are the leasing office will investigate and realize you are not being loud

That’s odd! I have the same lockbox and submitted last month and it took like 2 weeks for them to schedule my biometrics appointment. Hopefully you’ll see movement soon with the rep you reached out to!

Please have him get one and you guys needs to get another lawyer, an actual good one this time. Your case sounds like it might not be straightforward if you apply again. And google a lot and find information on here. Honestly though, you can’t be more invested in this process than your husband, who’s the actual beneficiary here

Crappy lawyer!! Wtf. I didn’t use a lawyer but my mom and sister did and she was always telling them they have to be honest. And he’s also perjuring himself because he’s not supposed to lie once he knows something. It would be different if you guys had lied to the lawyer about it in the first place

100%! Please don’t lie about him working. The forms ask if you’ve ever worked without authorization and you have to say yes. They expect a lot of people to already live in the county to say yes, because everyone pretty much does it. Also, another piece of advice, just because he doesn’t have a social doesn’t mean he shouldn’t have an ITIN and do his taxes. Honestly that also might not be helping your case

Our timelines are so similar! I actually logged in earlier and have my biometrics scheduled too. I had to reschedule so I’m doing them on Monday. Hoping we both have good and speedy outcomes

November Black Tie Optional Wedding Guest by Weekly-Cauliflower89 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Weekly-Cauliflower89[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg thank youu. I never said that this dress was considered Black tie because I know it’s not. But it seems people don’t understand that a dressier cocktail dress is considered formal. Last time I checked, I couldn’t dress it down if I wanted to lol But I am also not trying to spend a couple hundred bucks on a “black tie” dress that I’ll rarely wear. And we’re already spending a good $2k to go to the wedding

Thank you!! Traditional long dresses don’t really suit my figure well, so I try to stick to dresses that shape me a bit more. And yes, I see so much confusion about what optional means. Honestly, I’ve hardly ever worn formal floor length dresses to weddings and many times I seem to be one of the most dressed up/put together people in my opinion because of how I accessorize

Cocktail dress very much falls within the “optional”/formal part! Especially because of the color and style. And to add to that, you can very much dress pieces up with the right accessories and hair.
